Books within a serie that I took as a standalone

Books within a serie that I took as a standalone

Heey!

I mentionned it a few times before, but I  genuinely prefer standalones to series.. Growing up, there was one main french serie that I followed until the end, and since I’ve got within the blogosphere, I’ve read only two series. Both fantasies; one with vampire & one with angels. While I still have a few series that I discovered that I REALLY wanna get to eventually, this is the books that on the contrary, I decided not to finish and/or not read the books prior.

* Wow, I found actually way more than I thought I would 😅 I had to limit myself to 10.

Currently reading;

▶︎ The last of August – I got this one as a audiobook. While I know it’s technically the second in the serie, i’m trying to read it without having gotten to the one prior

Already read;

▶︎ Perfect Chemistery – Before I could read in english, I knew there was two more books, one for each brother, but I however couldn’t find them translated in french.

▶︎ Sweet thing – Same reason as above, I couldn’t yet read in english.. and honestly forgot about both of them 😅

▶︎ Love virtually – Again, I couldn’t find the second one in french; however, I got a friend from the US to read the next one and she told me the ending was quite a deception… so not sure I wanna see how that ends now. This book is one of my favorite that I have reread a good dozen of times already!

▶︎ The bakery at seashell cove – I’ve read that one as a open read on Netgalley.. and it says it’s supposedly the second in the serie?? Honestly when I read it, I didn’t noticed.

▶︎ The cornershop in Cockleberry bay – Technically, I read two + the christmas bonus, so not *quite* fitting this post here.. but I still have the final book to get through.

▶︎ Fierce fragile hearts – same as the bakery above, and also one I’ve got from Netgalley. However, this is the tome 2 following another girl from the group within the first tome.. so the only advantage of having read the other book is just more backstory, not really necessary.

▶︎ When dimple met Rishi – I fully intend to get on the other two eventually, hopefully, but haven’t yet.

▶︎ Screamcatcher web world – While this one was really an interesting concept, it was way too much of a high fantasy.. and I choosed not to go into the other two by fear of not being able to handle it.

▶︎ Letters to the lost – next one is on my list, haven’t gotten to it yet!

Bonus; The inexpected inlander, What if it’s us, Steeped in love, Geekerella, First in (2nd in Spring TBR), Un c’est bien, Deux c’est mieux

Do you prefer series or standalone?
Did you ever took one within a serie as a standalone before?

  1. I like both standalones and series, though I prefer the former when it comes to contemporary books 😄 I hope you enjoy When Dimple Met Rishi, it’s a great book! The other books in the series are more like companion novels 🙂

    1. I feel like come to contemporaries, or even romance, LOTS are actually companion books – which is great for me as you can just read whichever you want without necessarely read them in order, or all of them.

      However, it’s slightly irritating me how it seems like EVERYTHING has a serie now 🥲
