Hello everyone,
Like many of us, I find solace and comfort in books. For me, it’s especially the case when i’m grieving. However, instead of finding an escape and change my mind from the situation, I choose to go all in and feel it.
When my grandmother passed about 3yrs ago, I read “You’ll leave this world with your butt sewn shut“. Ithink this time around i’ll pick this book from last season’s TBR “lost souls meet under a full moon“.
I tend to pick books either on death itself and what comes after, memoirs, or hopeful books like Japanese fiction. Other books I can think of are; Messsenger cat café, before the coffee gets cold serie, This dog will change your life, past mortem, the last walk, playing possum:how animals understand death, Sorry for your loss.
No matter how much foreshadowing you have, It still crushes you nonetheless. I have mourned animals and people before, Iknow it will get easier someday.. but spending 11years with the same animal is a very long time. At the same time, though I wished I would’ve gotten more, I’m glad we got a bit more than a decade together – Iknow people that have lost theirs so much earlier, and I remind myself of the time we almost lost her when she was only 2years old.. I thank her for the extra 9 long years she gave us.
What kind of books helps you in trying times like these?
Are you more avoiding the subject or trying to understand it?
