As you probably all know by now, I actually been reading for most of my life. That part isn’t new for me. However; what is new is that in late 2014, I started developping anxiety and depression to the point where I needed to reach for help with therapy and medication. I wasn’t the same person anymore, like, at all. One of the “side effect” of thoses mental illnesses I now live with, was that my reading suffered as my concentration became harder to get and my imagination also needed more to be “working” per say, and I struggled to finish reading any books.. If my imagination wasn’t working, reading now became kind of pointless and less fun for me ..
Then, I stumbled upon Sweet things by renée carlino and my world seemed to be working again ! That book made me feel ALL the emotions and I just wanted to yell about this book to people !! I had been following bookish account on tumblr at that time, and the idea of making one just crossed my mind, I then shared this off my personal tumblr;
And this is where everything started ! promptly, the next day, April 30th 2017 (What !! a year ago !!) I started onto this platform, sporadically posting textposts and my own bookish pictures !
Then, on November 20th I had like.. a 7days off or something and I thought mmmh. Why not try this wordpress thing ?! It does seems more legit than a tumblr.. and I created this account ! 😘 I didn’t knew what I was doing, and alas I ended up falling out of it for ~a week or two; and I found a discord for new bloggers pinpoint at that time and got encouraged to keep going ! The rest is now history, i’m so glad thoses lovely people help me come back here 💜
My advices ;
If you didn’t knew already, I have a whole post over here about that, but here’s my main two I would give ;
- Don’t give up ! Yes, this will be hard, I know .. but it’s so worth it. I promise it’s worth it just for the love all the other bloggers give us and the support. Truly amazing community ❤ You won’t know what you’re doing, and struggle a bit as it will probably be harder than you thought it would be. But I promise you will get the hang of it and become better. Blogging will become easier for you, don’t let it go now!
- Give some love around. It will take a while before people get to know and aknowledge your blog. So it is really important you go and comment/follow other bookish blogs for them to know you. please DO NOT just go “oh hey im new come see my blog !” as I guarantee they won’t and you will probably be taken off to spammy comments .. not worth it. read the blogs, genuinly comment and follow if you like them.. and they will get to your blog on their own ! Don’t pressure it, also we have some twitter groups and discord chats now .. so just get out there and chat with the community ! We can give you a hand and answer your questions aswell, we don’t bite I promise! 😄
Now onto my nominations !! Of course feel free to say I tagged you if you end up reading ALL of this post and wanna do it aswell; just link me so I can see and read it 🙂
But i’d like to nominate in particular; Lauren @northernplunder, Evelinah @AvalinahsBooks, Marie @dh_books, Andreea @magicb77, Tiffany @readbytiffany, Sim @flipngthrupages, Anna @bookish_anna, Sheila @shesgoinbookcrz and Vee @BookNerd4167 💓

Well I’m glad you started blogging, even though I’m sorry to hear about how the depression affected your life so much. But yes, those are great tips! Especially being friendly—that’s how people find your blog and you make more bookish friends!
Thank you xx
It did had a big impact, for sure, and if we look at the end of last year- I failed my goodreads challenge as I wasn’t reading as much.
Now- we’re only in may and I am halfway there. Just finishing my 6th book in ENGLISH and a FANTASY!!! Im pretty proud ❤️ no doubt this community and my blog helped me greatly on this side; which is amazing!
oOOH i LOVE YOUR TATTOO! We started blogging around the same time! Although I think, mine was in July. I’m so glad I came across your blog 🙂
I hope your depression and anxiety has gotten better. My blog helped me cope with my own mental illness <3 Sending you love!
hehe thank you xx Same, I’m so happy we met! ❤
It did, thanksfully.. I went to not reading as much to 3books last month and I just finished my first of may yesterday after only 8days. Which is unusual as it’s fantasy and in english !! I see great progress xx I’m so proud of it 💗
Books are so powerful, I found myself in a similar situation and it was a book what helped me out of it! So glad you joined the blogging community and those are some really good advices, Love your blog! <3
Aww thank you so much ❤️❤️
Indeed.. how are us humans able to do such great thing ?! Im glad someone thought a book was a good idea and they kept popping!! Ahahah
I have a similar blogging origin story 🙂
I honestly never expected that anyone would ever see it so it stuns me that I’m still doing it almost 9 years later and have made so many friends from it.
Karen @ For What It’s Worth

I loved reading how you started your blog, Kristina! And I completely agree with your advice to share the love in the community and keep working hard on your blog as you will eventually get to the place where you want to be.
