My “To be read” ..

Hello !!

First thing first, I shall tell you that I have two separate Tbr – as you can see on my Goodreads account (ppst, feel free to come add me !) ;

 

You have my “Physical tbr”, aka the ones im gonna show you today with a little description and why I picked them up, If I can remember .. 😂and you have my “virtual want to read”, where I place all of them I see from other bloggers and wanna read them but don’t own them and/or it’s not translated yet so I need to wait .. 

Disclamer; before I start, remember that I read in french. I will do my best to add the english goodreads page to them but some will be french only, as there’s some from Quebec authors.  I’ll translate the plot for you as best as I can but will indicate if the link is french only. ** please, do click on the Goodreads link if you wanna learn more about a book – i’m now aware my little descriptions might not be the best ones in town… I still need a bit of practice ..

With all this aside, let’s start !!

 

1–Thirtheen reasons why by Jay asher; Basically, a teen commited suicide and left behind her 13 tapes that explain all the reasons why she did it. Im sure you all have heard of this one since it’s now on netflix, but it’s the last one I bought. I know the show would trigger me too much and since I read “I was there” by Gayle Forman, I wanna read more things like this having mental health related stuff inside that I can possibly relate to.

 

2- The night circus by Erin Morgenstern; A circus arrive suddently in town, which only opens at night – inside that circus, two individuals (a boy and a girl) must compete against each other for theirs master’s sake. There can only be one winner however, and fate decide to make them fall in love ..  I am a lover of romance ..and this one was promising ! Also loved by many bloggers, it seems, but I tried to read this one and put it back on there. The words used in this book is too “high” quality for me to understand and picture anything currently.

 

3- Waiting for Doggo by Mark Mills; the only thing left behind after being dumped by his girlfriend of 4years is a incriminating letter and an ugly and hairless dog .. Dan’s plan ? to put that dog back in adoption and get rid of it – Only.. that dog is special and full of inspiration ..  I picked it up first because it reminded me a bit of my godmother’s situation at the time – and let’s face it, being a dog owner, I love when dog’s love wins over all ..

 

4- Et je danse aussi by Anne-Laure Bondoux & Jean-Claude Mourlevat (french only) ; for this famous writer who don’t write anymore, a mystery package is sent by mail from a reader: Adeline “Tall, fat & brown haired”. Someone who might be his worst nightmare ! Only .. they ended up super close over time ..until the package reveals itself and it’s secrets ..  This one is also in the email format, which I loved in my favorite book “Love virtually” by Daniel Glattauer ! Also said to make you feel a variety of emotion, I thought I would give it a chance.

 

5- The boy who could see demons by Carolyn Jess-Cooke; A 10year old boy claim to have a 9000year old demon as his best friend. After his mother try to suicide herself again; he meet Anya, a child psychiatrist.. She will try her best to make him believe ruen doesn’t exist – having herself scars of her daughter’s battle to schizophrenia. A question remains after all the tests, however: Is he really schezophrenic or can he really see demons ?  The ghost world facinates me, and I am one of thoses who claims they does exist; hence why this book seemed attracting to me.

 

6- This very instant – Guillaume Musso ; Lisa and Arthur will have to fight the inevitable: time. When thoses two met, he seemed to have everything for him; except he’s not like everyone else. A lighthouse runs in his family, in which there’s a basement door you have to swear to never open, ever. A curse will fall on anyone daring to open it, making it impossible to live a normal life.. I used to be a huge fan of Guillaume Musso’s thrillers since I discovered him in High school. I will buy anything from him since then !

 

7- Possession / Dreamer / Sweet Heart by Peter James (Note, my book has all three in it but could only find it separately);

 told of his boy dying in a car accident.. but she keep seeing him everywhere, it can’t be ! She decide to consult a medium, which says that Fabian wanna come back to life .. –  She started thoses dreams at 7years old, pinpoint the day when her parents died – now, twenty-five years later, they are coming back and once again appears to become reality. Her life becomes threatened by thoses dreams and no experts can help her.. – When she saw that house, Charley knew right away that she knew that house, she remembers it ..But she also know she hasn’t been there in her life ! After buying it, she’s haunted by previous life’s memories in there .. A mix of thrillers and ghost stories is what attracted me, here !

 

8- Trust in me by Sophie McKenzie (apparently 3rd in a serie) ; Livy and Julia are best friends who tells each others everything. or is it ? After Julia’s death was determined as a suicide, Livy could not believe it one second ! The woman she knew wasn’t anything like the one her family portrays her to be; and she suspect her from being brutally murdered like Livy’s sisters was. Investigating her best friend’s life will end up making her question everything and destroy her self in the process with what she’ll find out.. I can see now a bit of similarity with “I was there” by Gayle Forman (the suicide of bff & wanting to dig in it) although I picked this one beforehand and the ending will probably not even go in the same way. Again, just thought this would be a good thriller I would like.

 

9- radio Silence by Alice Oseman  ; What if all you planned for yourself was wrong ? Frances always has been a grade A student with a goal, which promised nothing shall come between it – not even who she really is .. Until she met Aled, the first friend with whom she can be herself without shame. But the podcast they made became viral, which led to tensions between them; Torn between who she is and who she wanna be, her dreams are shattered. On his side, Aled is alone dealing with his dark secrets.. it’s only by facing your fears that you can surrend them ; And it’s only with being who you are that you can find hapiness.  So this one I picked it up following the boom it has had in our community! Also felt like I could somewhat relate to her – which is a big sell for me.

 

10- The reader on the 6.27 by Jean-Paul didierlaurent ; Guylain’s job, which he hates, consist of destroying books; his favorite hobby is to read aloud the pages he managed to save from the night before to the people in the train of 627am before going to work. When one day, he find a woman’s diary. A diary of a lady who share his own feeling of being lost in this world. As he reads, he find himself falling for her ..   I related a bit on this one – having one of my friend being a writer and having read a few of his pages (and yes, had a crush on him at some point in time). I thought of how interresting it would be to discover how books can save the people in this way… DNFed once as it’s written in french from france, it was too difficult for me at that time.

 

11- Fractured by Dani Atkins ; In one moment, rachel’s perfect life falled apart – five years later, she now needs to come back in her hometown years after that terrible moment. When she wakes up in the hospital after a hard fall, everything had changed … things that she had always wished for ended up being reality, things that should not even be possible ..  The romantic lady in me just falled for this one .. what if you were given a second chance for a lost love that could change everything?!

 

12- Eleanor & parks by rainbow rowell ; Eleanor is one of thoses high schoolers whom get bullied alot for being red haired and round .. everyday on the bus, she’ll sit quietly next to Parks. A shy guy who just politely ignores her – After a while, they’ll start being closer, linked together with their similar hobby. Again, the boom within the community made me pick it up – and as I was always the “wierd duckling” within the gang, so this imput into this lovestory might just be why i’d love it.

 

13- Murder at the vicarage / They do it with mirrors by Agatha Christie (same as with Peter James’ book, mine has both in the same book) ;  –  A popular hated man, Colonel Protheroe, is mysteriously found dead by a gunshot in the head – with nobody having heard the shot. No clues is left on who did killed him, but everyone who’s around the vicarage would have had a reason to do it .. *first of her books who put in her female detective, Jane Marple. *  – One shot, but another one is dead .. While visiting her friend in a reabilitation center, a juvenile shoot a gun at an administrator. Either of them gets out unharmed, but a mysterious visitor on another part of the building falls dead from a gunshot aswell at the same moment. Coincidence, or is this related ? *6th of her books with miss Jane Marple* Since as long as I can remember, my godmother has always swore by Agatha Christie; owning all of her books and loving them. Although I am a fan of thriller myself, I never read any yet .. So when I found that dual book in the pile of what my mom’s friend was selling , I thought why not try them!

 

14- On my knees by Meredith Wild (first of a serie) ; As she’s obligated to take care of her troubled family, Maya thought it would had been best to reject Cameron’s proposal.. years later, she cope with the lost of the love of her life by living a workaolic routine – so no man can get to her heart again. Cameron, on his side, escaped the memory of losing her by joining the military.. until fate decided to reunite them once again after Cameron decide upon starting a new life in New York with his siblings; Can they find the person they once love into the adult they became ? This one reminded me of “past” relationships in my life .. and we should all know by now that it gains alot of points when i’m buying books .. haha

 

15- Danger! Femmes en SPM by Catherine Bourgault (french only) ; While being in their PMS, 4 friends are “forced” to go on Vacation to Cancun by their boyfriends, whom paid them a 4 days all-included. The plan however turned bad as a snowstorm cancelled all fly off – needing our 4 ladies to wait in an airport .. The tention, aswell as the hormones, are rising; the reasons behind what will be memorables mischiefs.. This one sounds like a breathe of fresh air and an humoristic one to me ! Also, being “synced” to my godmother in times like this, I could totally see us in a situation like that – which makes things even funnier !

 

16- L’amour écorché by Marie-Bernadette Dupuy (french only); Hélène, a virtuoso pianist, only need one thing for her hapiness to be complete- love. As she’s at the bedside of a dying old friend, she get to meet a man for whom her heart immidiately booms for. One problem, however; he’s a priest who had wished fidelity to God .. Sharing my shelves with my mother, she actually picked this one – which I keep on my tbr aswell as we have somewhat the same taste in romance books. One of mom’s favorite authors aswell.

 

17- Brooklyn girl by Guillaume Musso; Would you still love me if I did the worst ?, she asked him while contemplating the ocean. They were getting married in 3weeks and was the love of his life.. what else could he say ? yeah, of course he would .. That’s what he thought, until she showed him a picture saying that she did it. Speachless, he knew their life changed forever .. he got up and left without a word; when he came back, she was gone.. Since then, he’s searching for her.  As introduced in No. 6, I was a big fan of this guy! What else can I say, it looked like a perfect romantic thriller to me.

 

18- Blood Magick by Nora roberts (3rd in a serie … shame me 😂) ; Branna, herborist and witch, always put her loved ones before her deepest desire, love. Hence why she rejected her first love when she discovered that he had the stamp of Cabhan – the warlock that’s been menacing them for generations. The feelings he make her feel are so deep that it causes her more tourmentations than reliefs .. When the time comes for them to unite to beat demoniac forces, will they both accept this passion between them in order to defeat the evil forever?   Totally planning to attempt to read this one as a stand alone .. or perhaps with some recap of the two previous ones ? Anyway, I picked this one up after having a peek of interrest in witches – in general and the will to be one. What would had sounded better than a witch love story where love would possibly beat the evil, im asking you..

 

19- Circle of friends by Maeve Binchy ; Benny and eve are friends since forever, having both growned up in Knockglen. Leaving for University & freedom in Dublin, they meet Nan and Jack – forming a new circle of friends. All four of them, they’ll meet with passion, tragedy, and the independence they wanted along the way .. I think mom also picked that one.. but as always, it’s on mine also because we kinda consult each other and read the synopsis to see if both of us thinks it looks good so we can both read it 😆
