So I tried the Beach Body Program for a week .. 💪🏽
Good morning!
We are going into something quite different today .. as we all know, I am VERY far from the athletic type of gal here, and i’m very NOT in shape.
However; my best friend has became a coach for the Beach Body fitness program like a few months ago – and being a good friend, I’ve been supporting her and was willing to try the program. Twice a month, they do this “free week trial” where a group of people get together with other coaches (they were three this time), so we can share recipes, support, and tips in general… and I finally decided to jump in!
This is her “coach” facebook page – disclaimer that she writes her posts in french, but she is indeed bilingual french/english just like I am.
How the free week works, is that upon inscription, you have access to a few of their programs on their “Beach Body on Demand”. My friend gave me a schedule of which one I could do each day, but it’s up to me to follow it/do it whenever i’m able to in the comfort of the home.
Monday 29th of July
This was our first day. I choosed to do like she suggested, and went with “Clean Week – Day 1; Core Function” – my first mistake was doing it an hour before needing to leave for work 😂 as the exercice in itself lasted 30mins, and I was SO not ready for how intense it was gonna be.. I finished it drenched in sweat, needing a quick shower to rinse off before eating and going to work.
Tuesday 30th of July
I opted for a relax day. After the training of the day before, my thighs aswell as my butt was really painful and I had to do a 8hours shift on my feet. As it was something we offered at the Café i’m working at, I tried to drink as many protein powder as I could to help the muscles restoration. I made a big smoothie consisting of lactose-free milk, 2 scoops of protein powder, 2 scoops of “frozen hot chocolate powder” and a banana. I also went for a protein chocolate/peanut butter bar on my break – one of the newer stuff we got, and while it wasn’t tasting as much as I was imagining it, it was good anyway.
Wednesday 31st of July
While it was still hurting, I went ahead and did the program called “21 days fit – sample”. I don’t own any weights, so I opted to do it a little lighter without using any but still doing the movements. As I had the whole house for myself, I could enjoy the space of the living room .. and let me tell you it was something with the two dachshunds yapping at me/getting excited xD It was completed regardless and I have to say my legs kind of felt a bit better afterward .. although I needed to take a few breaks while doing the moves as my legs couldn’t anymore.
Thursday 1st of August
Another relax day. Wasn’t so much about the hurting, I just wasn’t feeling too good with a headache aswell as allergies – and it was just a general “Lazy Day” for me.
Friday 2nd of August
This time, I went ahead and did my workout after I finished working at 9pm.. not ever doing it before leaving again, ahah! Today my program was “Cleen Week – Day 2; Cardio”. I’m honestly surprised how quick thoses 30mins workouts seems to be.
Saturday 3rd of August
After finishing work at 9pm, I decided upon taking the weeins for a small walk as it was finally windy and not so hot. Afterward, I had just been feeling like relaxing in bed, earlier than usual, so I took yet another relax day.
I was pleasently surprised. For some reason I thought it would’ve been less intense? as you workout from home and not in a gym with machines and stuff.. but turns out I was absolutely wrong! You get that good sweating done, and yet the programs are quite “easy” and fast to do by slabs of 30 mins a day. I would’ve liked to try the dancing or yoga ones.. but sadly thoses are not available with the free trial. I like how there’s SO many programs ! So you can really diversify the workouts you are doing so you never end up being tired of it.
It also surprised me that it wasn’t that bad to actually get me to do the exercices; as I usually hate working out, I thought I would wanna procrastinate my 30mins exercice of the day and would’ve gotten more “relax days” out of this than I actually did.
Do you prefer at home or in gym workouts?
Are you liking programs like this? What’s your favorite workouts?
I’m so glad you tried this and liked it. Do you think you’ll keep going?
Oh we did ! I ended up purchasing a 3month subscription – my mother joined me for some dancing/yoga. We are doing a more simpler one called “YOUv2” right now to start, we’ve been doing it for four days in a row so far, this week 😁 (I bought it on tuesday).
