50 bookish questions Tag !
Good morning!
So i’ve found a new bookish tag on Sam @ Fictionally Sam’s blog and decided to consider myself tagged by her ! You can read her post here if you’d like :3
I decided to do it in the end because there’s quite some interesting questions on there that we don’t see asked too often! So hopefully my answers can be at least a bit interesting ahaha 😅 let’s get going !
1.) What was the last book you read?
Last one I read cover to cover was When we Collided, as of which my review went up yesterday.
2.) Was it a good one?
Personally, it was !
3.) What made it good?
Does a book really need a reason to be good? But erhmm.. i’d say it was just what I was in the mood for – teenager love, mixed with learning to deal with a mental illness/grief.
4.) Would you recommend it to other people?
mhmm! Of course ♥️
5.) How often do you read?
I usually read atleast once a day, at night time. Then I’m trying more and more to read while still daytime – more often on my break at work.
6.) Do you like to read?
Me? No. Why would I ? 😂 Kidding – that answer is pretty obviously a yes.
7.) What was the last bad book you read?
I honestly don’t remember.. let me check goodreads for a second..
Oh, right. It was “The house by the Cemetary” By John Everson.
8.) What made you dislike it?
First, for an horror book it wasn’t even scary. Then I didn’t understood why it wasn’t an actual story of the real haunted house being an attraction instead of concentrating the major part of the story on the rebuilding … like, I don’t care. It felt really dragging and I couldn’t get into it at all.
9.) Do you wish to be a writer?
Surprisingly, no. Although I did tried to write a novel back in the days, I just.. don’t have any story to tell nor the imagination 🤷🏽♀️
10.) Has any book ever influenced you greatly?
It most definately has, no doubt on that. Which one though, I couldn’t tell you xD
11.) Do you read fan-fiction?
As of currently, no. I don’t really have a “main bookish fandom” that i’m really dedicated to. Though I guess I could read some on The Legend of Zelda ? But I haven’t.
12.) Do you write fan-fiction?
Fan-fictions are not really my thing, neither is writing, ahah!
13.) What is your favourite book?
It honestly changes as i’m reading more books ! Currently I’d say Eliza & her Monsters [Fancesca Zappia], Radio Silence [Alice Oseman], and Sweet Thing [Renée Carlino].
14.) What is your least favourite book?
Least favorite ? man, I don’t know. I don’t think I have ?
15.) Do you prefer physical books or ready on a device (like Kindle)?
Depend on the situation, I love both. I love to go back to paper and pass my books waiting on my shelves for me, but ebooks are really handy -specially when I know boyfriend’s gonna be sleeping with me as I can stay reading while he sleeps- as you know, you don’t need light.
16.) When did you learn to read?
As early as I could, I actually have no idea as of what age I was xd
17.) What is your favourite book you had to read in school?
*aherm* I haven’t read none of the mendatory we had to in english class 😂 Because I was a badass who got away with it -no idea of how, actually- and of course, I can’t remember the one I had picked for French Classes.
18.) What is your favourite book series?
The Sovereign Serie by Josie Jaffrey 💕 Forever owns my heart, I still think about that trilogy and that ending !!
19.) Who is your favourite author?
I don’t consider myself having favorites. There’s a few that i’ve read atleast one book and loved it so much that they’re on my “HAVE TO BUY” list though; like Ruth Ware, Alice Oseman and Renée Carlino, to name a few.
20.) What is your favourite genre?
Fiction; Romance, Thrillers/Mystery, YA, Contemporaries..
21.) Who is your favourite character in a book series?
in a Serie, specifically? Lucas, from the sovereign serie is an instant love.
22.) Has a book ever transported you somewhere else?
They have to ! Otherwise I won’t finish it 😅 Which that made me struggle a LOT after my mental health decreased.
23.) Which book do you wish had a sequel?
I’m honestly not much of a sequel reader, there’s so MANY I need to get onto now that I can actually read them in english .. *aherm* oops.
24.) Which book do you wish DIDN’T have a sequel?
See above, I don’t tend to read them anyway XD But the one I did were really good so – none.
25.) How long does it take you to read a book?
About 2 weeks, now. It used to be more like a book per month, I can now read at least two — But then that depends on if I feels like reading, or if something restraint me from reading.
Ex; if i’m reading paperback and boyfriend come sleep, not allowing me to use my light when he sleep to read x)
26.) Do you like when books become movies?
As a general answer, yes! Specially when it’s one of thoses where I know I don’t have the mental capacities to read anyway.. Like Miss Peregrine’s home for Pecular Children, for exemple.
27.) Which book was ruined by its movie adaptation?
I wouldn’t say “ruined”, as i’d still watch it, but one I was so mad about when younger was The Chronicles of Spiderwick. Little me as truly DISGUSTED by how much they removed from it 😂 What would I had expected? it’s FIVE BOOKS into one movie.. *shrug*
28.) Which movie has done a book justice?
I can’t think of one; mostly because all of them that I watched, I haven’t read the book so I cannot really judge.
29.) Do you read newspapers?
Although we do have many copies both in french AND english at work .. I don’t.
30.) Do you read magazines?
Yes, but only dog ones.
31.) Do you prefer newspapers or magazines?
Definately magazines! But it gotta be specifics xd I won’t just read anything. gotta be dogs- even better if there’s a weeins on the cover.
32.) Do you read while in bed?
Always !
33.) Do you read while on the toilet?
Sir, I bring literally everything on the toilet 😂 A book, my tablet, my phone, even my laptop ! Anything that i’m currently doing, i’ll bring it with me.
34.) Do you read while in the car?
I can- but it’s rarely. Like in car trips and such because.. usually there’s too much distractions for me to concentrate.
35.) Do you read while in the bath?
Happens. Though i’m more of a shower than bath person.
36.) Are you a fast reader?
Nope xD I think I was back in the days, but again .. bad mental health happened and fucked me up.
37.) Are you a slow reader?
yeeah .. specially if i’m reading something complicated like Fantasy
38.) Where is your favourite place to read?
At night, peacefully and un-bothered in my bed.
39.) Is it hard for you to concentrate when you read?
It is. The more complicated the read, the more harder it gets. A pain, really ..
40.) Do you need a room to be silent while you read?
Ideally, yep. I’d still try but again, it’ll take longer for me to focus on the book and not be easily snapped out by noises.
41.) Who gave you your love for reading?
My godmother ♥♥
42.) What book is next on your list to read?
Ffff… man, I have no idea. I just loaned “Steeped in Love” [Julie Evelyn Joyce] from my library, so i’m gonna start reading that and we’ll see what i’m gonna end up with when i’m done xd
43.) When did you start to read chapter books?
Probably around the same time as I learned to read. It’s been WAY too long for me to remember.
44.) Who is your favourite children’s book author?
I don’t read children books, nor do I know any children so erm.. None.
45.) Which author would you most want to interview?
Interviews are not really my thing, I just cannot come with that many questions. I literally have no imagination whatsoever..
46.) Which author do you think you would be friends with?
Maybe Francesca Zappia or Alice Oseman ? I follow both on tumblr and they just looks so .. reachable? I don’t know.
47.) What book have you reread the most?
Love Virtually [Daniel Glattauer] I read it atleast 10 times in the past, what, 6 years ? xd
48.) Which books do you consider “classics?”
The boring ones that I don’t read … ahaha, does that count as an answer?
49.) Which books do you think should be taught in every school?
I don’t really believe in “specific books” ? Sure, it’s important to showcase books like The Hate U Give that shows the kids the cruelty and problems of the world, i’d agree. But I don’t find it good to just, obligate the kids to read them.. because most of the time it’ll make them hate it instead. Something I liked about my French Classes, is that some teachers would pick 5-10 different books and make us choose which one we wanted to read. Though that make things harder to make the tests on, it’s definately so much like a nicer experience!
50.) Which books should be banned from all schools?
No books should be banned, period.
And that’s it for me !
As always, i’m tagging everyone who’s up to answer thoses 50 questions xx
Please also share with me some of your answers in the comments 🙂
You’re view on classics is the same as my own 😛 What an epically long tag – I love it! Thanks for sharing more about yourself and reading preferences 🙂
Thank you for reading ! I’m glad you enjoyed my “oversharing” ahah :p
yes!! It seems like a lot of people within our community do enjoy them.. so it’s nice to have someone else finding them boring ahaha
I love reading at night! There’s something about the quiet that makes the reading more fun (and also knowing that you’ll definitely read past your bedtime lol). I love ebooks so much, like you could read thick books without having to hold the thick book and you can also increase the font size, which is excellent for my eyes 😄 I tried to read the first Miss Peregrine book and I did like the movie more, some books just work better as movies?
But, I, also really loved The Spiderwick Chronicles movie as a kid? Mostly because I had no idea there was a series (like now I do, and I might read it soonish, because I love the author).
I was such a fast reader back in high school and now I can barely finish a book in a day, let alone like a week 😢 Speaking of high school, I definitely agree with letting the students choose what they want to read – otherwise they won’t enjoy the book and won’t work hard on their essays or tests.
Omg yes, I agree !! Not only you don’t need to hold the massive book, it’s less discouraging to not see you didn’t even made a DENT in it x) That’s what repulse me more about big books… I read slowly and even when you think it’s been a while — you don’t even made a THIRD OF IT!!
Oh, that’s nice to know! I didn’t read it, but I specially loved the movie – the part where they went to what looked like the titanic underwater was so beautiful!! And man … I just know I would’ve been so lost reading it xd
OH, ahaha yeah — I feel like I was a hipster and the only one reading that in school xD (in my area, anyway – back when kids were like “ewww.. READING?! FOR FUN?!”) so it pissed my off ahaha.. I hope you like them! Because I know how much of a fan I was back then i’m kind of scared to reread x0 just in case my memories would be wrong and I wouldn’t love them anymore..
I’ve read other Emery Lord books, but am yet to read When We Collided. I’m glad you liked it!
Did you enjoyed the others? I had been wanting to read more of her books.
How sweet that your Godmother influenced your love of reading! And I too love the kindle to read in bed without disturbing the bedmate lolol. Also, lol why would anyone answer 50 bookish questions if they didn’t like to read lolol
Iknow eh 😂 what’s that question, ahaha
My godmother influenced me alot, on all sort of things ❤️ that was before mom realized she also loved to read like, dozens of years after xd
Fun post, Kristina! <3 Yeah, I would be greatly disappointed by The house by the Cemetary too, if it wasn't scary at all! I'm not much of a writer either, and I hardly ever read fanfiction. I used to be into it when I was in middle school, but that ship sailed once I reached high school, I suppose. I still haven't read Radio Silence, but I do adore Eliza and her Monsters! <3
Ohhh, we are so alike ! ❤️
Idk, I just never really was in that kind of stuff xD I remember I LOVED one fanfiction about two celebrities, but the story didn’t end and I just gnreh – hahah falled off the wagon.
You should absolutely read Radio Silence, It was definately worth the hype for me !
