“What makes me pick up a Book” Tag
Good morning!
Time for another tag ~ this one was found on Jeimy’s blog while bloghopping, and I liked it so I wanted to play along too 😄
1. Do you judge a book by its cover?
Not really, if a book has a prettier cover, I will tend to want to read it versus a book that has a plain “bleh” cover.. BUT I give more importances to the title and the synopsis to catch my eye — although it CAN happen, it’s rare that I get it only for a pretty cover.
2. Focusing on just the cover, what attracts you to pick it up?
It’s quite various.. I love colorfuls/sploshs of colors, covers with different textures (raised letters, un-even pages, different papers textures), universe-looking covers (When the stars lead to you, No one here is lonely, etc.), retro/minimalist covers (Kissing Lessons, The nerdy & the dirty, etc.) just to name a few.
3. Do you read the synopsis first, or do you prefer to go in knowing nothing about the book?
Being a mood reader, I absolutely need to know when i’m getting into, as it must fit onto the current mood i’m feeling 😅 or else I won’t get very far..
4. Do you have any auto-buy authors?
Thoses seems to change with time.. Younger it used to be Guillaume Musso, Now it’s Alice Oseman or Ruth Ware.
5. Are you more likely to buy a book if it has specific elements/themes?
Definately! Any Dachshunds involved, organ donation/transplant, references to pop culture/geeky things are the ones coming to my head currently.
6. Do you ever read a book that has generally negative reviews just to form your own opinion on it?
Generally speaking, there’s a lot of books that I like that have mostly negative reviews (In a dark dark woods always come to mind) so i’m not particularly worried of that – sometimes, depending on what the blogger’s unliked elements were, it might even push me to want to read it even more!
7. Do you ever buy a book just because another booktuber/blogger has talked about it a lot?
Oh yeah.. I have done that quite alot. To name a few;Â My heart and other black holes, Emergency Contact, Letters to the lost and Radio Silence.
8. Is there anyone who’s book recommendations you always trust?
My friends Marie @ Drizzles & Hurricanes, Sophie @ Beware of the Reader generally have the same tastes in book as me; and while I feel like there’s more than theses girls, I just can’t think of anybody else at this current moment 😅
Feel free to consider yourself tagged if you wanna jump in aswell!
Who has your back for reviews?
Is there any specific themes that are a instant-buy for you ?
This is such a fun tag. I’ll be joining in soon.
Reading your answers I realise I don’t think I’ve ever read any books that feature any organ donation storylines. Do you have a favourite that you would recommend?
Yay! Can’t wait to check your answers
Iknow.. when you think about it it’s kinda rare — I’ve personally only read « The heart between us » that I loved!! But « Our year of Maybe » have been quite hyped in the community, and this one involve a kidney, just like my family, so i’ve been dying to try that one!
