Are bloggers pushing themselves too hard ?

Heya,

Another Sunday where we will be taking the “Off topic” into a blogging related conversation rather than anything bookish. This is NOT only for us book bloggers, but all bloggers considered in our community.

So here’s the question I got wondering about lately;

« Are bloggers pushing themselves too hard ? »

As we all know by now, A day sadly only consist of 24hours.

Most of us have jobs or families outside of our blogs, yet we expect ourselves to be able to do everyting constantly. It does feel a bit unobtainable, doesn’t it ?

I’ll admit i’m one of thoses people; If I cannot do everything I wanna do, I won’t feel “productive” and therefore will feel bad about myself and maybe lead my brain right onto a panic attack. Which sounds ridiculous, eh ?

Let’s learn and preach onto each other not to do that. What we chosed to do is supposed to be fun, not dreading !

We are only humans (sadly..), It’s okay to need breaks and rest a little.. Sure, it’s great to produce all thoses posts, to share all the love in our blogosphere and to just read more than we can take in a day.

But you know what? we are also allowed to do other things too;

  • relax
  • Have a little out for the evening
  • Pass some quality time with someone we love
  • Binge watch Netflix
  • Just play videogames upon hours and hours while doing nothing productive..

An “empty” case in your bullet journal might make you a little sad, or feeling like you are such a bad blogger to dare skip a post or haven’t returned that comment you got.

But that’s okay. We need that; and we shall not get it hold against ourselves nor other bloggers, but rather take a breathe and enjoy the moment.

What do you think ? xx

  1. I 100% agree! I’ve been studying full time since I started my blog, which have helped A LOT because I’ve had almost endless amount of time to read. It also helps that I can combine my course readings, with leisure readings. But no more! I’m about to go into my last week of fulltime studying, and then it’s back to the evil day job. Basically, that means I’ll be struggling to keep up with my self expectations. So, I need to embrace that it’s okay to have fewer posts etc and maybe even, have set days to for it.

    1. Congrats on finishing studying!! (Hopefully its because youre done and not other reasons..)

      you might need some time to adapt for sure.. ive had that while working evenings part time, so I cannot imagine when i’ll move to a day job full time someday 😅

  2. I feel this a lot! I don’t have any classes but I can get busy because of debate and sometimes, my org duties leave me too tired to get any reading done. I kind of feel pressured to put out blog content and sometimes it leads to me procrastinating on my posts. Plus, I’m also working on a book and the pressure leads me to ignore my blog.

    1. I totally understand, having got a few blogging block in the past month .. it’d be great if we could slack the pressure a little bit ! This should remain fun.. if a day pass and you dont have any post for that one, oh well, better luck for the next one and thats it. No need to panic on that! (Life’s give us enough already ahah)

  3. This is so true! As a book blogger I feel a responsibility to keep content fresh and ongoing, but I also have a responsibility to myself– to relax and invest in reading for pleasure, not just reviews!

      1. Of course! Need to feel some freedom or else the blog will be just a job, and no one wants to read posts that sound like someone wrote them under duress!

      1. Hahahaah exactly! I miss the days where my biggest worries was whether or not my clothes was cool enough etc. Now I’m more concerned with paying rent. Adulting sucks. Someone should have warned us!

  4. I love your off topic posts! I always feel like I need to be doing more, and I’m a newer blogger so I think it really should matter. But aside from reviews and a couple of memes, like I said before, I’m still a little hesitant to venture into a post without structure lol ><!

    1. Thoses are my favorite to write, honestly !! Though im quite good at just let my heart go and control my hands to ramble on xD
      I’ll highly suggest you give it a shot, atleast once !

  5. I completely agree with this. Last year I had more than a full time schedule of classes and was working a job and was trying to blog – it was A LOT of pressure and sleepless nights. I kinda had to learn that it was ok to back burner my blog sometimes – it will be there for me when I get back. I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and the comments on here as well, great post!

    1. Thank you ! yep .. it will, however being a paranoid perfectionnist I still find it hard, even if I know nobody shall reprimed me for it or anything but you know..

  6. I relate to this so much!

    I always feel like I’m not doing enough – don’t reply to comments quickly enough, don’t visit other blogs as frequently as I’d like, and leave comments there as well, don’t post more often … and it’s so important to remind ourselves that we do have a life outside of blogging, and other bloggers and readers will understand.

    Wonderful post, Kristina! <3

    1. Thank you <3
      yep, same ! I feel like every moment im not doing anything is a loss of what I *should* be doing .. though we have every right to just take a moment to self care and relax.

  7. I kind of perpetually used to feel guilty as a blogger for always being behind on everything! Now I chill and take things more at my own pace and just see how it goes. I do my best, but I also have to live my life. That’s all we can do really – do our best and enjoy it too.
