Best wishes from the Fullmoon Coffee Shop ~ Mai Mochizuki ☆ Book review

Good morning!

I had enjoyed the first one of the Fullmoon Coffee shop earlier this year, which you can return to the review here. The translation just got published in 2025, so I got very lucky to be able to read both this year! 😄

5 ⭐️ / 5 stars

Storygraph

Although I could’ve probably guess by the cover, I read it quite in a good timing as the stories are based around Christmas! This time of the month, the fullmoon coffee shop open their doors on extra nights; to help people understand their true wishes.

As always I loved the astrological part of the novel! The way it’s explained, it’s easily understandeable; with each cat representing the planets. For exemple, Saturn is a tuxedo cat 😄 Which coincidally happen to be my main planet in my own horoscope; it really makes me wanna understand my chart more, and see what it says about myself.

For me, I related alot to the second lady’s story; completely bawling my eyes out at the last one. Absolutely 100% recommend both books (and will always take one more).

“do people really need to go out of their way just to know what it is they truly wish for? Doesn’t everyone already know something like that?”

“Let’s use a video game as an example. If life is a role-playing game, your Ascendant is the equipment you start out with. You haven’t been trained to use the weapon, but you innately know how. You set out on a journey in which you are the main character with that weapon in hand.”

“You are a Universe, and the stars will lend their power to what you’ve decided on. You may struggle and wander, but you could never be wrong.”

“Animals that humans have loved dearly may be reborn as humans. But only if they want to be. That’s why most animals that are reborn as humans were pets in their previous life.” (…) “Despite the difficulty of human life, some pets want to be reborn as a human. They want it not for themselves but to help the person they love. That’s why many of them are special and born with skills normal people don’t have. We call these precious beings ‘Children of the Stars?”
