Bujo; The start of an habit

Helloo !!

So, if you’ve been following me for a while, you’d remember me saying i’ve been wanting to start my very own Bujo* (Bullet Journal, if you have no idea) – but didn’t quiiite wanted to take the plunge as I already had a pre-made planner, which starts from July 2017, up to december 2018. and heh .. I felt kinda on the fence of if i’d abandon it for the sake of a Bujo or not keep the bujo entierely and … It led me with guilt and a tiny bit of a panic attack. (yep .. I know, I know ..  my “panic mode is easily activated)

Now you are gonna say … but wait. What gave you the push you needed to actually go and buy one and start ? Well my guys, this girl – Upon bloghopping I stumbled upon Ara’s post on Bullet Journalling, and Oh how I was SOLD ! I was still thinking, but kinda meh… and then I just, listened to my heart and dived right in ! I actually got mom into it with me… eheheh

Thus, I decided to write you this post on what I have so far and how I will attempt to keep BOTH of my pre-made planner and Bujo until the rest of the year, as I am not a fan of *wasting my money* on things ..

First, let me show you my “designed area” I made for it in my room, my « writing / planning area » (although I don’t actually … write there 😂 but eh.)

Up of this is actually my “clothing line” of polaroid pictures. but it was not fitting too well in the picture ..

I have all my arsenal handy and ready. All my most used pens is into one of my many dachshund mug; you know the drill.. I have way too many to fit in the cupboard xD and this one is “christmassy” – the rest of them is just waiting in my capricorn pouch. Then I have my planner open to the current day for easy remembering, with my bullet on top – kinda like a “reminder”, and my two notebook under them. Added a bit of decoration with a fake flower pot and this heart candle I actually made – two identical ones for me & my godmother, from when we went to a Botanic garden years and years ago. Quite simple.

For my first pages, I opted to put my 2018 Goals (same as this blog post) and general ideas for blog posts – just for me to keep track of them goals and have a place to insert ideas if I get some, but may not feel like writting it quite yet.

Next, I have my Wishlist (used to be my habit tracker but eeeh, I messed up..) and my count of books for my Goodreads // #Beatthebacklist in the form many has done before; which is a library with books, and when read – you color a book and/or write the name of it (I tried..) and yep ! I needed to add a little dachshund figure somewhere xD Following that, I have my “key” of what color of pen means – haven’t took another one, but I added the cross for cancel and an arrow to indicate it got rescheduled.

Switch of setting, as I wanted an updated look of some of the pages; first ones taken the same day I started.

Now here’s where the fun start ! instead of a “guide page” with only the month written on it, I just combined it with the month’s calender and directly fill it out for a nicer overview.

Next, I have my habit tracker ! (yes .. I combine written french & english … don’t ask xD ) – I have a few things written there for now, might modify it later. some blogging / reading / stuff for my dog and some personnal stuff in it. (yes… I know.. please don’t mind the one for my teeth…)

Here’s what really convinced me ! My planning of what I want / need to post that month – so I can know ahead of time when and what I wanna post. I also indicated that well, I post Monday & Thursdays mainly, saturday every two weeks for the internationnal blogger meme and my “off topic” sunday when I want to. I wanted something different than my other pages and .. did this mitchmatched thing. (I’m no artist, okay xP ) I put each day and wrote inside what I wanted to post for that day. I then went ahead and indicated what was in my draft also, which will mainly be reviews, as I like to write it as im reading and post it right away when i’m done. Since I posted my first off topic aswell, I wrote it as an additionnal post (& date) I wanted to plan & not forget to do it.

Lastly, I have my weeks. This is where I was unsure about .. as I wanna keep both, that was my first attempt – I went for a kind of copy/paste .. I’ve thought of maybe removing that in the future months to do my planning of posts / Habit tracker AND the month’s calender only in my Bujo, and then use the weeks in my planner … But went for putting the main “words” on my planner and then add more story onto my bullet one .. I’m still not sure. I will test the latter and decide.

For the week I am currently in as I write this, I had made it a bit different… I like to write some little details about my day – so I feel less like “I havent done anything”

As the end of the week is near, I started preparing the next one ! This time all days fit perfectly, and I added the days aswell as the date – and made my quote of the week more up. Looking back at thoses 3 weeks now, I love to see my evolution of them ! and also I don’t mind the ghost of the other page’s ink anymore – which is really nice !

Lastly, I started preparing my month of March (still missing my habit tracker though) ;

And this is everything I have for now !

Any ideas on pages I should add – What are your must have pages in yours ? Any ideas on how to juggle with both a planner & a bujo ?

    1. aww thank you ! not the best looking one ive seen but – hopefully i’ll get there 🙂 I was also hesitant to have one, so Id definitely tell you to try it !

    1. So far it does ! :d my planner is kinda … lonely now but eeeh, I just love how full my weeks looks in my BuJo so I start writing even mundaines things xD just SOMETHING like ahh I scheduled a post or … anything .

  1. I’m not a bujo planner but wow, I love staring for hours at the bujos people use. Yours are so cute!! <3 I love that little dog sticker you've stuck on the Feb page 😀

  2. Such a great start! I have my own form of Bullet Journal but I named it a Blogging Journal as that’s what I use it for – to keep myself and my blog organised 🙂

      1. I really do! It’s great, best part is my journal has lines in it and isn’t blank like most ppl’s bullet journals are but it works for me 🙂

  3. Ahh, I’m so glad to have inspired you (a little) to start a BuJo! I actually love the fact that you have pages dedicated to blogging. I didn’t initially – I just had notes written throughout my journal for what I wanted to post – but for this month, I have a little bit of a schedule! We’ll see how I manage for next month, but YAY! I love your set-up and I hope this works out for you!

    1. Bujo is so flexible! I think I was initially caught up in make it pretty but now I keep it very basic and I can see what I need to add or change to make it work. I use a small ruler, a pen, some washi tape and a printable monthly calendar. If you ever decide to try it start very simply- think about what you need from the system and make it work for you. Happy journaling 😄

  4. I will have to commend you for sticking to both! I might have repurposed the planner one specific thing, really I don’t know. I love the flexibility of bullet journaling- I actually took an old notebook and tried it to see if I would like it. I did but had to be realistic with the pretty artsy stuff because I can’t draw- so I use washi tape and simple layouts that don’t require a lot of setup time. (It took me some time to get to this). One of the lovely things that came from my bujo is my book journal. It’s my favorite 😃

    1. yah ! thats amazing !
although I kinda .. let my planner down a bit.. oops 😐 I need to copy some “big points” from my bullet – eventually xd work kinda took over me this week

        1. Thank you ! im much more attracted to my bujo now, but tend to use my planner to see if my pay were calculated right for now ? idk what im gonna do with that one exactly x)

    1. Ahh I hope to! Which, id almost need a monthly spread showing and maybe get more ideas of what to put inside so its not too redundants .. 🤦🏽‍♀️ we will see ..
      so far working great! 🌸
