Chatty Sunday ~ 19/08/18
Happy sunday everyone,
I just felt once again like sharing some stuff with you guys today ahah – as sunday is usually relax and “wrap up” day, I thought this would be perfect for us to do!
So.. I got quite an interresting past weeks x)
A) I mailed a #BookishWish !
As I think I mentionned before, I actually had three books I was thinking of un-hauling.. One of them being the french copy of “The night circus”, which happily got a taker !! I was so excited to be able to give it a loving home – which that person loved the english version, and wanted to see what it looked like in our french language. Mailed it on the 5th, and she received it on the 10th, from what our post website says.
Now with the other two, one being quite big I fear a bit for shipping.., I just placed them on my FB Marketplace to see if someone would buy them from me – if that doesn’t work I don’t know what I shall do with them..
B) I got sick..
Starting monday the 6th with a headache/throat hurting/nauseous, evolving to a cold later .. to ending up with an hospital trip on Thursday 9th as I woke up with a terrible ear pain and the dr notified me I had some liquid in my inner ear. great, isn’t it? 😓 Atleast it stopped hurting but I am now half-deaf since .. I’ve tried clearing it up with nasal spray, with some cold medicine the pharmacist gave us.. AND YET I am still half deaf as i’m writing this on Aug. 15. Pretty darn annoying ..
C) I lost a loved one ..
He was really sick with blood cancer to the point where he should had left a while ago .. and though we expected it in a way, I did had a flow of tears. He passed on Aug. 12th a 5am, and he was my grandmother’s boyfriend – which he had been in my life for the last 15 years .. I never had known my own grandfather on that side of the family, so even if we weren’t blood related, he was the closest I had.
One thing that had made my day, I shared a picture of the two of us when I had went to see him in my prom dress while he was in the hospital in 2012, and I had wrote; “You were not my real grandfather, but the closest I had as my grandmother’s boyfriend for the past 15 years of my life. You are in no more pain, rest easy ..💔” which is what brought me tears on the first place.. and this lady from our fellow dachshund parent group came and said “real ? oh yes sweetie. All love is real xxx take care”; it was just what I had needed, soothed me and the words echoed in my mind <3
D) Acadian day !
August 15th is my culture’s celebration day !! In the town I come from, we block a whole road for us to walk and make some noise from 6 to 7pm. Everybody also dress in blue, yellow, white and red for the occation; There’s even a prize for the best costume ! Most of us also just party and drink ahah, every escuse is a good one..
After being deported by the Englishs in 1755, this is just our tradition to express that we are still here and our culture, with it’s people, is very alive ! Note the similarity of the France’s flag, as our ancestors “built” the acadians nation from the people France had sent to colonize where Canada is. You can check the meaning of our flag here.
E) Finally donated blood !!
I’ve talk alot about that here, i’ve been wanting to for SO LONG !! I was casually scrolling facebook on acadian day, and it popped that one of our radio station was saying they needed 22,000 blood donors before Aug. 28 !! Just like that, I turned around like “well mom. that’s what we shall do today !”
And so we did, after we ate something of course. I showed up there and they gave me a temporary code, as my blood donor’s card shall arrive within 2-3 weeks by mail. I saw dad do it long before me, so it was a must to bring his watch as he was currently away and couldn’t attend; though I did send him pictures and he was super proud of me. Added the fact our passed loved one needed a bunch of blood; and I almost burst in tears when she put the needle in just with how much this all meant to me.
F) Questions ?
So I was thinking, as most of you know – I am French first language, While my boyfriend’s first language is english. So it got me thinking; We could do a post together (split up my version and his, linked together) where we could each say what it’s like for us personnally to be in that kind of bilingual relationship !
If you’d have any questions for us to answer about that topic, please leave them below for us ! I did a post for that on twitter a while ago – which sadly I didn’t received any ..
And that’s everything I wanted to say this time ! As always, I start the post like “eeeeh.. idk what I could say..” and end up with passed 850 words 😂 woops ?
