Good morning!
If you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know already that I adopted Majora at 12weeks in July; He’s now 30weeks (so 7months & a half). Ofcourse we had have a cat before- but we underestimated how old she was when we rescued her.. because Majora had this “baby phase” that i’m positive we didn’t went through with my other cat 😳
Ofcourse I was also probably too young to remember; but what I do remember from her was how cuddly she was, drooling when she was happy (thus when you were petting her), aswell as coming when you called and staying by my side when sick.
One of the main difference between the two, is that Majora is my first cat being 100% indoor, so ofcourse you see more things about them rather than with my previous one where she’ll “dissapear” outside for a few hours..
Here’s what I wasn’t expecting to get;
- The biting,
Clearly I know that he’s teething, as sides of his mouth appear swollen and “dark” in his fur, but he’s definately a biter. Whenever you hold him too much or trying to do his nails gets hectic .. my left hand has a constant state of bitemarks/scratch marks scars on it from him 😆 - The silliness,
This one I swear. In his zoomies, he’ll just casually bonk in the wall for no reason. Hard. Seems like he just miss the exit door and shove himself in the wall instead 🙃 He also bonked in the fireplace while seeing his reflection in it. Generally being clumsy and falling off things – one time he climbed the window to get to a fly.. and just fell off his perch 🤦🏽♀️ - Attention Seeker,
Something that I also did different with him, I don’t free feed. I’ll give him his portion in the morning & at night like his siblings, and he’s free to eat it whenever he wants to. Which means that now he’ll wake me up to eat; sometimes way too early, but his way of doing it is shoving stuff on the floor. His favorite is my jewel stand where I place my necklaces, he’ll just steal something out of there to play with, or even shove the whole thing off the shelf- which gave me quite a scare as it’s extra noisy xD He also picked up to scratch at things, such as my matress, as he know for sure it’ll make us react. - His wierd obsession for the new kitchen chairs,
I truly didn’t thought that one through.. before adopting him, we had just bought a new kitchen table & chairs. Surely enough, the thing is OBSESSED with those chairs – he’ll even go to scratch on them whenever he wants something, because like I just said, he know he’s gonna get the attention he wants. We’ve tried a couple of things to keep him off but it just.. doesn’t work (special no go spray, vinegar.. he doesn’t care) so we caved & reserved a chair for him with a blanket, and I just bought cushion covers to “fix” the scratch marks he made 🙃 - The open doors!!
Can’t open a door in peace.. as soon as you open, kitten goes inside in 0.2 seconds. Wardrobes, where he climb my boxes on the ground and teeth at my hangers, food closet, washer dryer closet… everything. If you’re not careful, you might trap him inside, which did happened a couple of times 😂
Overall, ofcourse I wouldn’t trade him for anything, he’s part of the family. However, i’m eager to see if his 1 year will calm him down a bit, as neutering him sure didn’t do anything (then again, he didn’t had testicules – just one tiny xd). Having two identical dogs, it comes to quite hilarious situations too; only my male likes to play with him, and sometimes he picks the wrong dog and bother my female instead. Which just looks at him all “??” 😂 Wierd that he can’t pick them out, you’d think they would have a different scent or something.
He’s much like his sister, and want attention on his terms – such as at night time or early mornings; but he’s a big mother’s boy. Whenever I come home from work, my dogs come to me first, and he’ll also come running to get to me from wherever he was in the house. Same like my girl I lost, he also comes whenever I call him. He’s also the “Cleaning inspector”: one can’t get in the shower or bathroom without him. He needs to stand on the side of the tub when in the shower/bath or even beside the sink when you wash your hands 😆 For someone who don’t like water much, he’s also facinated by it.
His siblings being dogs, there’s times that I take them out without him- to go to the petstore (which he don’t even LIKE- as I got him there ithink he must not wanna go back xD must fear I’d drop him) or just take a walk.. the bummer CRIES all up until we arrive, as he wanna come too.
What was your experience with a kitten?
Had you experienced any of those?
Mine was crazy on Saturday when the whole family was home! She ran everywhere for a good hour.
Oh no, cute!!
He’s teething- and that make him overly devilish 😬 biting things and generally being hyper & naughty xD eventually they’ll all be grown.. hopefully ahah
