Halo ~ Olga Gibbs ☆ Review

Halo ~ Olga Gibbs ☆ Review

Disclamer: I did received this book via the author in exchange for a genuine review.

Hello, lovelies!

We are here for the review of the LAST book into this serie that I deeply love.. I have been very involved with this serie from the start, when Olga reached me for a review request of Heavenward, all throughout the writing and promoting of the next 3 books (ending up with 4 books instead of the original 3 planned). This is a little bittersweet moment for me, where the serie is truly ending 😅

With how the previous tome ended, this turn of the story wasn’t what i’d have imagined at all. We see more and more of the metamorphosis of Ariel into Uriel.. and she’s so strong now, i’m proud of my baby!

Every turn this final book took was an absolute surprise, this was NOT how I would’ve had imagined the final battle.. nor would I had ever imagined Ariel being stripped of her bodyguard Rafe and staying alive, on her own decisions!! — if that would’ve had happened earlier, she would’ve had been game over and lost.

I’m however bummed at how Rafe turned.. I used to love him in previous ones, tied with Sam, but now not so much. Even after she escaped the “snake” sucking her Qal, and the tunnels, he’s still wary of her decisions – taking her like the human she was and not like the angel she became in the process.

Sam had always been a favorite of mine, however I always felt like there was a power imbalance between them from the start — like he was way ahead of her… until now. And oh lord, my heart!! I knew that he wasn’t a traitor, the relief i’ve felt !!

I’m still an absolute Sam & Ariel fan 😅  there’s just something about them, and him calling her « mermaid » that I adore.. tears escaped my eyes when he confessed and sworn to her, all of what he did for her in the previous books had been from love..

While reading, I did remembered all the earlier events from the last three books.. and although the first one’s feeling is hard to shake, this may be close to my second favorite. The emotional connexion i’ve felt to this novel is so much stronger and deeper now 😅

I cried on multiple occasions, of sadness and relief. The ending got me bawling.. the choices she made, the one who was indeed a traitor, and a wish for happier life (which, I don’t all agree with). So many emotions felt all through the book.. but although not the one I would’ve had wanted, it’s a good serie’s ending nonetheless; we got everything we’ve been told we were gonna have.
