How my dog saved my life ~ Cate Cochran ☆ Book review

I found this book totally unexpected; while browsing my bookstore the last time I went.. and I just couldn’t leave it there. I had never heard about this one anywhere; but you know I love all animal stories, so I had to pick it up!

If you’ve been here a while, you know my two dachshunds saved my life, actually. When I hit my rock-bottom in my early 20s, they had been the ones to make me keep going. I hadn’t been so deep that I couldn’t leave my bed, not that I remember, and I had my parents to help me ofcourse.. but I knew back then even if my mother could love them the way I would, she didn’t had the funds to take care of them. I just couldn’t bare the thought of leaving them and they wouldn’t understand why, you know.

My mother too had a similar story as one of the woman in the book; when she went through her kidneys failing, the dialysis & kidney transplant, yes me & dad had been her reason to keep going BUT she also had her dog by her side that had a big effect too. When dad & I was at work/college, he was with her.

Though beautiful stories as they are, it’s an absolute tear jecker from me! While quite alot of these come from persons with a disability in need of a guide dog (which is awesome btw! we rarely hear the stories behind, and those dogs are so clever!!), it’s a good mix between the literal VS emotional. In some stories, a dog saved them from a fire or the traffic, while in others you have similar stories to me & my mother.

I also like how it’s all different breed; although sadly just one dachshund in the intro of this book. Dogs are amazing in all shape and form and everyone is included; as much big as small 🥰
