Looks like we are on time for once, look at that!
So today’s theme is; A character I am thanksful for, because ____.
I’m sure I could pick more than one character here, but “Ariel” from heavenward is the one who stood out for me.
What’s this meme ?
I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger love for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love. ♡
If you recall, we had seen this book in “A character who flies” ..
Why ?
Because Ariel was first and foremost written so anyone could relate to her.
When starting the novel, She’s vulnerable. You get to see first glance how rough her past has been; filled with neglect, abuse and violence .. She’s increadibly hard on herself and seem to have anger issues.
Nonetheless; as the events happens, you see how strong she is. Even with all that she went through, she still fight back. She takes her own decisions and have that stubborn attitude – one that I had too before shit happened.
This book was my first “Fantasy” type book, but I’ve never read anything where the female character is just so intense, in the good way. She’s a truly badass one, not taking the “damsell in distress” role, this damsell fights back !
Which is even more important as this is a YA book, Ariel being 17 if I remember correctly .. We need more of thoses books where females are strong — showing the youngsters that yes, women CAN have a powerful role in a story.

Have you read heavenward ? Or is it on your Tbr ?
Which character are YOU thanksful for ?
Lovely choice!
Thank you ! 🙂
Adding to my TBR Kristina because she seems fantastic!!! I will write my post soon as I’ve been reading the whole day LOL
Yes!! The second book will be out next year – I already said yes for the blog tour ahah
GAAAHHH sometimes there are just those books that we keep coming back to and this seems to be one for you Kristina ❤️ I love the strong woman trope and reading about their imperfections yet despite those they forge on doing the best they can and persevering through stubbornness and attitude! Thanks for sharing you passion!
yep !! this one & the Sovereign serie is my go-to now !
I’m honestly so happy you liked it!! Upon writing this one I wasn’t sure anymore xD ahah
I love strong female characters, that doesn’t wait to be rescued and does all the rescue. I am glad you have a go-to book for all times.
Thank you!
Yess, such a breeze to read eh? Sure, i do love me some rescuing (aherm, zelda.) but its nice to get some attitude and self-saving ladies at times too!
I haven’t read Heavenward, but I like how you describe the character of Ariel. We definitely need more female characters with agency, with complexity, relatable… it’s so important to see in books characters similar AND different to yourself, so you can find comfort and learn!
We do indeed! Thank you to have stopped by xx
