Helloo !
Here we are again to continue this meme, as we had to skip a week yet again as I was too far ahead 😂 woops ! Let’s hope we shall be in sync with everyone else from now on ..
What is it exactly ?
- We have a discord group of internationnal bloggers; all of us being, you would guess it, in other places in the world other than US. (let me know if you wanna join, i’ll point you to the person to contact)
- Ayla, from Books and Babbles, decided upon creating a meme for us to participate in and see our point of view for each prompt that you can check on her blog following the link I included.

Iknow I have another post about my struggles as an Int. blogger, but that’s not what I wanna talk about for this one. I wanna concentrate on how things are in my part of the world, rather !
So, yes, I am in a province of Canada called « New-Brunswick ». Where we have both french and english as our legal “main” languages. (yes I forgot the name of that..)
For the first ~12years of my life, I was in a town up north of my province; which is known to be more french, as we are just under the Quebec border. It was only in the last two years (of the 12..) that we got a bookstore in town, which was rather new back in the days. Beforehand, I would go to our local library with my mom, also as spending my summers there for activities and such. I’d say both the library and the bookstore are rather small/medium ish compared to bigger place, but hey atleast we had one ! And yes, from what I remember it was only in french – but it’s been a while, so..
Then, for the last 11years up to now, we moved into this town we currently live in ! Much more bigger than the one we came from, and much more bilingual aswell as we are down south of the province now; and so circled by english peeps ! However, as you can probably guess, I had quite the hardest of time with my english. Fun fact ; although i’m learning since 3rd grade of primary school, I only started to understand the language in senior year of high school 😂 Guess I was what we call slow, erhm ..
But the fact im still training my brain into reading in english aside, we have so much more access down here ! As we are two towns in one, we have two rather big public library (went once, just on the 24th!), and our Canadian Barns & Nobles, which you know I LOVE !!, that have both french & english books. Even if french books is only about half of the entire bookstore’s stock, I’m still glad we got some ! And we have a more local bookstore for french books.. but it’s a bit too tight for me. not even much in there so..
One of our two library I went to had quite lot of both french & english books, I saw alot of book ive seen people yell about on the internet! But I went ahead and picked “All the bright places” which was already on my wanting to read. Fun Fact, my library card was expired as we thought so; and the lady was shocked to see my ID I think 😂 (an identification card is needed to get a new one. although it is free) Wasn’t expecting me to be 23.. Only costs we need to pay for our libraries is late fees.
The cost of our french copies is about double of what english books cost us, as we gotta pay for the darn translation; so if english books are available from $8 and up, French ones is atleast $15. Since my brain kinda prefer it that way, I don’t really mind paying more, and I do have the funds for it but … it’s kind of unfortunate in some ways.
