Heey!
Today we’re doing the August 15th prompt, asking about A change in bookish opinions : Have your bookish opinions changed over the years, and if so, in what ways have they changed? Do you think your bookish opinions have changed because of being part of the bookish community (including on social media), reading more books, or book blogging? Have your bookish opinions changed in ways you didn’t expect?
Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @Eternity Books and co-hosted by Aria @Book Nook Bits and Dini @dinipandareads! At first when I saw this prompts, I didn’t thought of anything of the like applying to me.. and then I read other bloggers posts and I realized that I do have some! Mainly those all came from the fact that I grew older, I became aware and accepted some things that I was still trying to blend into when I started blogging.
✻ I discovered new genres that I claimed I didn’t liked before, I’m talking specifically Non-fiction or Horror. With Non-fiction, I had the thought that it was solely biographies- which I had found boring. However, this genre has so much sub-genres in it; I found that i’m a fan of True crime, Medical non-fiction, Paranormal non-fictions & Self-help.
✻ In the opposite direction, I realized some genres just isn’t for me- and definately stopped trying to blend in with the majority of other bloggers out there. Poetry & Fantasy are not genres that appeal to me; although Fantasy being the exception that confirm the rule as some sub-genres can be okay, but here we’re talking high fantasy specifically; most of the overly hyped books on the blogosphere.
✻ As baby bloggers, we’re into the impression that arcs are a MUST and it sounds so cool!.. in reality- I prefer not to engage. I’ve always been living under a rock and almost never know what books get published 😆 On the exception of my favorite authors like Ruth Ware or Ali Hazelwood. Being a mood blogger, it also put a strain on my reading as you do have a deadline, being the published day, to give your review in a timely manner. I can’t guarantee i’d be in the mood to read said book before the deadline- same for Review Requests. I found absolute indie gems doing those, but I just prefer not to anymore, as it generally gives me unecessary stress.
What are your change in opinions?

Great post! Sometimes seeing other people’s posts also makes me reflect on my own experiences in ways that I didn’t think about before. I can really relate to both genre points that you made, as well as the ARC one! The ARC one in particular was difficult for me to let go of because I had such strong opinions and desires about that as a blogger, but it has made me much happier in the long run 🙂
Yes! You read and it gives you ideas.
Ohno I understand, but glad it turned out to be a good thinf
I do think taste can change over time, mine definitely has changed some. I also went from tons of ARCs to accepting very few nowadays. It is stressful to have deadlines, and what if I feel meh about the book and just don’t want to review it? Anyway, it sounds like your reading is more about you now and what you enjoy 🙂
Yes, and thats always great! 🙂
Everyone seems to have done the same with arcs ahah
