Let’s talk Bookish ➙ Festive reads 🎄

Heey!

Long time no see; Today we’re doing the December 5th prompt, asking about A change in Festive Reads : Do you read holiday/winter-themed reads? Do you have any on your TBR this December? What have been favorites from past years? Are there any festive books you like to re-read during the holidays?

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme created by Rukky @Eternity Books and co-hosted by Aria @Book Nook Bits and Dini @dinipandareads! So, even though i’m a Christmas baby (27th december!), I’m not a fan 😅 I much prefer autumn/Halloween season rather than Christmas.. We celebrate to a bare minimum: decorations, turkey or ham on the 25th, and opening gifts on the 24th at midnight. As i’m an adult now, and we don’t have any children, it does gets boring- I never know what to ask for both Xmas & my birthday as I mainly buy my own things the other 11months of the year ahah so..

As i’m a mood reader, I’d say it’s pretty hard to time; as said above, I don’t get in the Xmas mood in the same way as I do in the autumn with thrillers & horrors. However; I do like the festive horrors, like Krampus for exemple. It’s wierd i’m not much into festive romance, as I am a big romance reader; but then again I don’t particularly like this time of year either. I would rather pick new year romances instead.

Festive reads on my Winter TBR;

Noel Sanglant, Sylvain Johnson (French festive horror)
The most wonderful crime of the year, Ally Carter (Festive mystery romance)
& In five years, Rebecca Serle (Festive new year contemporary)

Favorites of past years;

Krampus, David Bédard (French festive horror)
The christmas murder game, Alexandra Benedict (Festive thriller)
Adeste Fidèle, Patrick Isabelle (French horror – part of the Anna Carita serie, treating the “Black Christmas”)
Season for second chances, Jenny Bayliss (Festive Romance)*
10 blind dates, Ashley Elston (Festive Romance)*

Do you like to read festive themed books?
Would you have any recs for me?

      1. Ahah I do that all the time 🙈 I had one on my winter tbr a couple years ago (the christmas pudding one) but didn’t got to it. I still haven’t read anything from her yet ahah

  1. Fair enough, this time of your is not beloved by everyone! I do have Ten Blind Dates on my TBR thougha nd I’ve heard it’s very sweet/fun. I can’t wait to check it out. Thanks for joining this week’s LTB!

    1. Yes thats true, I absolutely loved ten blind dates ! It kept making me thing of my family… back when we did have christmas habits

  2. Understandable. I’m a mood reader too, but there were a few years where, all the sudden in December, I did get into a mood where all I wanted to read was Christmas books. Which was odd because I was otherwise feeling very unfestive. I haven’t read any this year. I hope you have a nice Xmas and birthday 🙂
