Let’s talk bookish ➙ Holiday Books

Good morning, Everyone!

Let’s Talk Bookish is a bookish meme that was created by Rukky @ Eternity books where each Friday, bloggers write posts discussing the topic of the week! Since the beginning of April, the meme has been taken over by Aria @ Book Nook Bits; She also created the pretty new graphics!

❀ December 23: Holiday Books (Aria ~ me)

Prompts: Christmas books and movies dominate the media during the winter season, but Christmas isn’t the only holiday being celebrated. Do you like reading holiday books at all? Have you ever read a holiday book about another religion? What about a holiday book not set during the winter season? If you’re religious but don’t celebrate Christmas, do you feel represented in the holiday media?

It’s just as I started blogging (5yrs ago) that I discovered Holiday-themed book were a thing, really, as I had no means to discover other types of books from fellow readers before. I still only have read a few though: 10 blind dates, Christmas in Cockleberry Bay, A Season for Second ChancesThe Christmas murder game

As you’ll see in my haul on Christmas day, I’ve recently bought two more holiday books: F*** Eve, mon pere noel s’appelle Adam & Season for love. I’m definately open to read more Holiday books, and on the lookout for more, wether it’s the “traditional” or even about other religions. I’ve also made a post this month on what i’m in the lookout for in my Holiday Books that i’d wanna read.

As I’m from Canada, where we mainly get way too much snow in this period of the year, a green Christmas sounds odd and somehow mystical to me. Maybe someday I’d get to celebrate one of those, vacationing in a warmer country or something. Again, I think it’d be really interresting to read something about that – few times we’ve seen some hallmarks holiday movie set in warmer US region (I assume) where Christmas decorations were placed on green grass & trees – which looks so out of place in our eyes! 😅 definately not used to it.

What about you, do you enjoy holiday books?

  1. A few years ago, I started a sort of tradition of reading Christmas books throughout December. I don’t think I realized they were a thing until after I started blogging either! I live where it doesn’t snow, so I have never had a white Christmas, every decoration I see is on the grass XD

    1. Oh, happy to hear i’m not alone on that! I also started doing the same.. and hopefully new year too- though I might not make it in time 😅

Hah. Yeah it must be flipped for you then..
