Good morning everyone!
It had been a while since I joined- and now my friend Dini has joined the hosting, yaay! 👏🏼 Cue the new header & LTB synopsis. So this time we’ll be doing the Feb 28th prompt; How many books do you typically read in a year? Do you always track your reading? Does keeping track of the books you read motivate you or stress you out? How do you keep track of the books you read? Do you have a 2025 reading goal? (Jillian @ Jillian the Bookish Butterfly)

Growing up I used to read so many books, aswell as reread all the time! I even spent summers at the public library having activities & my mother recall I was reading over 100s of books! I don’t have any trace anywhere, however- so I don’t exactly remember that well enough (I was maybe 8 at the time?) 😅
Starting in 2017, I had a really bad depression/anxiety phase where I couldn’t see images while reading anymore- which really didn’t help me read. it was just so bland and dull.. I couldn’t even finish a book cover to cover! I struggled to follow the action of the books, and where my struggles with fantasy started.
When I started this blog, my goal had been 10 books. I had failed that year, and every year going forward I was adding another 10 to my number. For the last two years in a row, my achieved reading had been of 40 books! For this year i’ve been aiming for 50- being a little harder for me as I didn’t passed that number yet.
Tracking my reading had came hand in hand with blogging, this wasn’t an habit before- I joined goodread at the same time, and since a few years switched to storygraph. Along with my storygraph reading goal, I also track what I read & DNF in my bullet journal. I’ll write in my weeklies when I finish a book, track how much I read within the month on my monthly page, and also the grand total of books in the year at the start of the bullet. Along with the title, I also track which language it was read in and the format.
So that makes 1 app/website & 3 different pages!
My beast is the little ” you are X books in advance/late” 🙈 especially how my grand total of books read in the past had been 42- I have some peas to eat to get to 50.. so whenever the number of books ahead start shrinking.. it start stressing me a little bit.. but so far i’m not behind so that’s good!
My general reading goals for 2025 can be read here & here (5 bookish resolutions).
How many books do you average per year?
How do you track them?
