Let’s talk bookish ➙ Reviewing books?

Good morning, Everyone!

Let’s Talk Bookish is a bookish meme that was created by Rukky @ Eternity books where each Friday, bloggers write posts discussing the topic of the week! Since the beginning of April, the meme has been taken over by Aria @ Book Nook Bits; She also created the pretty new graphics!

❀ August 12: Reviewing Books? (Rachel @ A Bookworm in Paradise)

Prompts: What makes you want to review or not review a book? Do you review every book you read? Are some books harder to review than others? Do you review books you disliked? If you’ve ever written a ranty review, have you regretted doing so afterwards? Do you delete reviews that are “outdated” or don’t follow what you think of the book now?

I always try to review everything that I read.. Whenever possible; I like to do my reviews of french books in a “mini review post” and include atleast one english along with it, as most of my followers aren’t french, I feel like it’d be a bit of a wasted post otherwise. The bare minimum that I will do however is a shortened goodread review, regardless of if it gets a post or not.

I find the hardest books to review to be poetry; but mainly because I’ve been realizing that poetry actually isn’t for me, so I don’t really know what I can say on something I had been forcing myself to read for the sake of trying other things 😅

I generally don’t really mind reviewing a book I disliked or DNFed, as long as I got something to say. Some books are just “meh”, or in the case of Such a Good Girl by Amanda K. Morgan, I had fun reading it.. but thinking about the book after being finished, nothing came to mind. I even realized how bas the plot was (I’m not a fan of underage student/teacher romance dynamics).

I haven’t written any ranty reviews thus far.. and I don’t really like deleting posts, so the outdated reviews kinda just chill in here, ahaha — as for rereading reviews? Ithink it’d be likely that i’d also place them in a “Mini Review Post”, rereading version.

How do you personally review books?
