Love Virtually ~ Daniel Glattauer ✩ Review

* Read in french as « Quand souffle le vent du nord » *

So let’s start with what this book is about, shall we?

So this book start with a lady named Emmie sending an email to Leo Leike to unsubscibe herself from a magazine; but thing is, it’s absolutely not the right email address! So he then reply saying that it’s not actually the email of that magazine, and couple days & months later she continue the same mistake. Both of them then enroll themselves into email conversations to each other. Strictly via email, and never ever mentionning where they work/hobbies/daily day to day stuff they finally begin to create a friendship that can only exist via the interwebs. They both becomes the internal voice of the other and can’t get themselves to risk losing that if ever something were to happen to it.. aka after they saw each other « in real life ». However, the urge to be closer to the other person is really heavy – but Emmie is happily married with two kids while leo just got into a broke up. Will they get to finally meet eachother in despice of what can happen next?

One thing I really absolutely adore in this book is the format. It is written in style of the emails they write/receive, which is making it so easy for me to read! Even with a reading slump and my mental illnesses acting up, I get to read about 50-100pages every time I pick up the book! So it can be a quickly read on top of an easy one, which is what make it a good option for while in a reading slump! Another thing I really love, is how much you feel the person’s character through their emails – I feel just as if Emmie would be real and writing emails to me ! Although I tend to prefer books where they make you into the person’s point of view and where you really feel as in you are into the action, this one is more as if i’d be hiding in a bush in front of an appartment and see them writing to each other from the other side of the window, if you get my draft… after all thoses years I can still remember clearly what happens in the story, and still remain one of my favorite – a 5stars for me ✨
