Micro Brew; KonMar That Shiz (prompt #1)

Apologizing for two memes in a row 🙈  However, my Netgalley arc’s review isn’t finished yet; which I got only few days before release date so unfortunately it’ll be a bit late.. i’ve also been wanting to start the genre conversation! As I wanna have a conversation post later on about the «genres I didn’t knew about before I started blogging».

So anyway; here’s onto April’s theme “KonMar That Shiz”, prompt 1 (April 8th) – What’s your go-to genre? What about it do you enjoy so much? What’s your least favorite genre to read?

WHAT’S MICRO BREW?;
THIS WAS CREATED BY MY FRIEND MELANIE / THE LIBRARY OF MARS. WE WOULD DO THIS ON TUMBLR, BACK WHEN THAT WAS MY ONLY REVIEWING PLATFORM. I’VE BEEN WANTING TO DO SOMETHING MORE ON MY BLOG BECAUSE MY REVIEWS ARE AS UNPREDICTABLE AS MY READING HABITS. I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A FUN WAY TO PROMOTE SOMETHING THAT YOU LOVE. IT’S ALSO BEEN RE-BRANDED FROM “MICRO REVIEW” TO “MICRO BREW” BECAUSE OF SOME CONFUSION AND TO FIT WITH MY BLOGS OVERALL THEME.I WILL BE POSTING THE PROMPTS ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH AND ANSWERING THEM ON THE FIRST AND THIRD MONDAYS OF THE MONTH (ANYTIME IN BETWEEN WILL BE GOOD TIMES TO POST AS WELL). [FROM ALLIE’S BLOG]

As we all know, i’ve been reading for 20+ years now.. and somehow my reading taste never really changed ? Sure, a few got added now that I know more genres than I did then; but as you could’ve seen with the “down the tbr hole” meme… books i’ve added even back in 2017 still interest me to this day, for the most part.

Let’s see my favorites;

• Romance
The cheesier the better ! I’m of a dreamer/romantic mind and back in the day it was the only thing I had – believe it or not younger me told herself that sometimes.. There’s just something about two people falling for each other, and I still very do believe in fairytales, even at 24. *aherm*

• Thriller / Mystery
I mostly only call thoses thrillers, englobing the crime novels aswell – I guess this one may be unherited from my godmother, as her favorite author has been Agatha Christie! On a more serious note though, those are mostly a win to me towards all media; I love the crime tv shows style, like CSI and Criminal Minds, etc. I like to test my brain and see if I’d solve the mystery aswell and am able to foreshadow the ending xD

In the same train of thoughts, My least favorite genres still remains the same through all theses years ! Of course, Some titles may be the exception to confirm the rule, as we’d say.. But generally here’s some I won’t ever read;

• Biographies
This is probably because i’m not one to really fangirl over an existing person, but biographies are something I just find so boring … I don’t really wanna know the history of a once “famous” person – to me it has a “obligatory reading” kind of look to them 😂 Just not what i’m inclined toward reading.

• Historical
Fiction or non-fiction, If a book is pre-war era … i’m sorry but you lose me there. I’d agree the clothing might be super beautiful, but my brain just have such an hard time understanding and trying to visualise how life must’ve been back then – So I just prefer thoses that life are around about the same century as we are in currently, I can even do a tad bit more futuristic (but again- not too much either, for now.)

What would be your Go-to genres & least favorites ?
Do we share some genres?

  1. Romance is one of my favourite genres too!
    I also really like Fantasy and sci-fi but YA Romances seem to be my go to right now.
    I don’t like biographies or autobiographies that much but I have never tried them so I am trying them this month (or next month) by reading Becoming by Michelle Obama
    Great post!

    1. Thank you xx
      Fantasy has been a new discoveries for me! As for scifi.. i havent read alot of them but the space ones and such are kinda erh- just too hard on my brain 😂

      To be honest, neither did I- but it’s not something that interest me either.. so, goodluck! Let’s hope you’d like Michelle Obama’s, ive heard lots of good

  2. I prefer SFF as far as genres go, but I’m with you on biographies as well. If I want nonfic, I usually go for more generalised history, how people once lived or something. Not books centered on one famous person. Just doesn’t appeal usually 😂

    1. Mmmhm – I get you !
      the only non-fiction i’ve read is “Reasons to stay alive” by Matt haig. Otherwise i’d go for something like real ghosts stories and the like .. not that.

  3. pssssst it’s “KonMari”, named after the creator Marie Kondo 😉

    it’s interesting that your reading taste hasn’t changed much, because I seem to go through “phases” or get really into certain genres during certain periods. I actually love biography/memoir, it’s one of my favorite types of nonfiction because I like reading about people whose lives are different from mine, but to each their own 😜 and I actually like history more than sci-fi, but again personal preference lol.

    1. Oh, it is?? I just copied over from the theme page xD i honestly didnt knew what that was ahaha thanks.

      Mh, interresting- see im not even a fan of scifi or non-fiction either 😂😂

  4. I always seem to stray away from YA Romance, and well any romance centered books actually. I love nonfiction history, historical fiction, and fantasy/scifi, oh and mysteries!…Okay it’s really just romance I tend to keep away from it seems lol, interesting to see your answers! Thanks for sharing!
