Reading with Anxiety; Have I read that right?

Helloo!

As you probably know by now, I’m an anxious bean. I’ve created a little serie about blogging with anxiety, and hopped on to a few reading with anxiety aswell. A way for me to discuss about some of the daily struggles we might face with others like me!

One of the wierd “rules” that is a must in my brain is the need to read every. word. Sometimes I caught myself skipping words to go faster and my brain be like “No. Reread the whole paragraph!”. I need to force myself to skim read and/or DNF.. which I really shoud do more of!

I currently don’t understand how you don’t read a book cover to cover.. or how you can see something written and not read it for that matter Which is WAY too common, if you work in service industry..

Albeight I do know nobody ever reads the same book, as we all have different perspective and what not, posting a review almost always makes me wonder if I read the same thing as others.. and it might be worst considering I read in a second language- so maybe I wouldn’t get some degrees of writing nuances or.. I always see bloggers talking about the writing itself and I can’t say I can tell you anything about the writting 💀 Not sure if that’s just my brain itself or if I am part of the blogging sphere that hasn’t gotten any litterature educations?

There’s a few things known that my brain can’t handle; high fantasy being one, as I lack the imagination required to see the descriptions making sense, but timetravels back-and-forth is also known to puzzles me. Same as having way too many MCs POV.

Do you also wonder about these things?

    1. To me it was the opposite ahah 😅 Instead of DNfing, I forced myself to skim instead.. I felt less bad of knowing how it ended in a way, without having the frustration reading what I thought the situation was..

  1. I think it’s fine if you don’t notice writing style or things like that. My philosophy for reviews is that I just talk about the things I did notice or do want to talk about, so I expect everyone else to do the same. We all notice different things. That’s why it’s great there are usually lots of reviews!

    1. That’s a good way to look at it, Thank you!
I’ve always felt so wierd to “be different” and not knowing when so many bloggers do talk about the writing style!

  2. Okay but I feel like my brain can’t handle high fantasy either, thank god I’m not the only one ahah! I just feel like it requires so much on my part and I just… I don’t feel focused enough to read it, and/or I don’t know, I just don’t find myself as immersed into it as with other books. Especially lately.
About the writing style, I get that! Sometimes I do notice it, but other times I just… don’t really have anything specific to say. It’s good, though, to see we all see things differently, makes all the reviews unique, in a way!! 🙂
    Love this post!!
