Sadie ~ Courtney Summers ☆ Book Review

Good morning!

This is one of the books that, although I had heard lots of good from, it just.. didn’t felt the right book for me to pick. Until now; My other two library books on my Autumn TBR was taken, so I had been on the lookout for something else to read, and decided it was time.

Trigger warnings: Murder, Pedophelia, Sexual Assault, injuries*

*I’m sensible to self harm cutting, especially wrists, at one point I shivered when Sadie broke a window with her arm

I loved the dual POV between Sadie & the guy looking for her with her surrogate grandmother; The mix of her first person POV with his podcast transcription. I don’t doubt this must be such a good read on audio.

The suspense stayed with us; despite the characters definately finding something, we didn’t knew exactly what- and we’d have a POV switch to keep us on the edge of our seat a little more.

I quite liked Sadie’s character; the way she was made with a stutter. I had fell on a tumblr post explaining how certain circumstances would affect how the stutter should be written prior to reading it, by chance, but ithink it made me enjoy that character trait a bit more.

Though i’m not certain I could bring it this far, we both share how deep we feel for someone. She had a good idea who killed her precious baby sister, thus needing him to pay – her light went off inside of her that day, he took what was her everything.. she literally had nobody else to live for anyway, her mother having ran away.

The ending was so bittersweet.. one part we can guess from the beginning, from assumptions based from what was found. But from the plot twists blooms a silver lining in the ending, something truly beautiful.
