The dog walkers ~ Michelle M Davis ☆ Review Request

Good morning everyone,

I have a special review request for y’all today; this has actually been the second time they’ve reached me to read this one, but the first time I opted to not answer because I was going in a hectic moment with my old job 😅 I was happy to see it come back; furthemore, it was now the perfect read as I’m now a pet specialist at a locally-owned pet shop!

*While I did receive the book from the publisher, all thoughts are my own & genuine; it did not affect my review in any way*

Goodread page
4 / 5 stars

Having been in a deep depression state before, though not as deep to trigger a agoraphobia of some sort, I could really feel the heaviness steeping from our MC. While I appreciate having the full background of Ali’s breakup, I don’t think that part was really necessary within the story; it felt kinda long to me to reach the « point » of the novel, starting to introduce her low state of mind aswell as the dog walkers she’d spotted.

I love Ali’s imagination & variety as to the « possible life » of the dog walkers; I couldn’t wait to see how far from the truth she might’ve been.. and hoping to have a dachshund pass by!

It’s wonderful how the morale of the novel is set to show how much a dog can help you through such a bad state of mind; I can say that my two dachshunds saved me aswell. Sometimes, you just need each other, not quite sure who rescued whom in a case like this one- and it’s particularly lovely that she offered the two ladies to stay within the dog’s life, and to even offer to take her like that!

My only downside, is that you do need to proper research and think about the decision of taking a dog… which clearly didn’t happened here, though she made the conscious reflexion that if she agreed, she was taking her for the rest of the dog’s life; making her aware of the fact that you can’t just get a dog for the heck of it, which I appreciated.

The romance only happens after Ali begins to feel back herself, with the help of Josie; which is amazing!! Not only we don’t fall for the famous “love will save me”, but Ali also realised how much she changed for the worst with David, and that fear is what inclined her to stay isolated- learning how to get back to who she once was.

Love only happens after she go back to work, and did most of the work already; a good coincidence. The massive change between the two relationships is so adorable!!
