This was a read a bit different than what I’d usually pick up, but the reason I did is because i’m am currently in a similar position myself; being single and yet.. tend to overthink relationships and idealizing them to a point where real life probably won’t even act like that in the slightest…
In this book, Jasmine, the main character, start by seeing in a magazine that she’s reading that being single is now “out”. Which is a big thing she doesn’t wanna be – and all her friends being with someone, she feels a bit lonely.. She then set herself the goal to find herself a man ! (Hence the title, that translate to “A man, Please!”) However, Jasmine dream of a vision more “cinematic” of love where everything is perfect with awesome love declarations .. and all her past boyfriends has been what she calls “lovephobic” ; scared of long lasting relationships and to give proper love to only one woman. All through the book she do a little “top 5” of possible boyfriends, which in the end she realize that deep down she’s a little scared too, and with who she’s really in love… which got away because she kept saying she wanted him to say he wanted to try going back with her more romantically.
I’d rate it 4stars out of 5. What I really love about India, is that so far I can really see myself in her characters. They are clumsy, daydream alot, and the story is told with some humor by that main character. I’m not sure if i’d read it again, but I LOVED the ending !!!
