What about magazines? πŸ“–

What about magazines? πŸ“–

One thing that I find interesting that don’t get talked about much within the reading community is magazines.. While I can see it’s not *technically* the same as novels, graphic novels or even mangas, it’s still something we can read, right?

So let’s do talk about them today.

Nowadays, there’s pretty much as many kind of magazines that there’s novels – If you can think about it, there’s probably a magazine on it. Growing up, my godmother had the Oprah and Country living ones, where she’d cut me the little paper dolls that were often included in thoses. I also had thoses teenager’s fashion/lifestyle kind of magazines for a while, until I sort of grew out of them.

Up until last year, where I discovered the dog specifics ones! “Canadians Dogs” & “Modern Dogs” quickly became my favorite- while the first one is a yearly one rather than monthly, I always need to check if there’s some new ones whenever I step in a pharmacy πŸ˜‚Β I’m always in to find new informations about dogs!

Though it could be sort of “snobbed” upon, I class magazines in the same square as graphic novels, personally. A kind of reading material that you don’t really need to think much about ? like, you can just lay there relaxing and reading one without too much of a hassle; which would honestly be so good in a reading slump! There’s no context around each articles (mostly) and it’s not incredibly long either, so it’s even better in times where your concentration might be lacking — because of something stressful, per exemple.

What’s your thoughts about magazines? Do you agree with me?
If you also read somes, which are your favorites?

  1. I used to read and collect them like books! Fashion and anything film or entertainment related. I agree with you there fun to read but now I do try to keep it mainly if I have an actual interest in the stars or certain articles so as not to get out of control again πŸ™‚

    1. Fair enough! That’s actually quite smart, too.
So far I think I only have like five magazines xD so still not being too overboard ahah (for now)

  2. Great post, love! <3 You bring up some great points about the similarities between magazines and graphic novels. Both of them truly are literature that you can pick up without much hassle, or worrying about investing too much thought into – though, they're enjoyable, all the same! πŸ™‚

  3. I used to collect the magazines under the W.I.T.C.H. series (ahh, good times!) and counted that as reading. I suppose it still counts as reading as you are absorbing information like your say. Also, magazines about dogs sound amazing, I would love to read those!

    1. Ohh ithink I vaguely remember something like that ! I however have no idea how it was called xd it was my friend’s and not mine.

Yess they are so nice !! You learn alot, and of course you have some fun little ones too – like which would be your dog’s horoscope and such, ahah!

  4. Look, ma! It’s my butt!

I’m not usually a big magazine reader, but one I used to get all the time and really want to get back into is Archaeology magazine. I have a huge collection of hardcopy ones, and many digital. I still use them as reference, and just enjoy reading them. Always makes me want to go on a summer or spring excavation and be a mudbug πŸ˜†πŸ˜‚

    1. Ohhh archeology looks so fun! That’s something I would’ve loved xD or even just wandering with a metal detector and find things ahah
