Helloo!

I finally has gotten to Ruth’s last published novel! 🥰 As soon as I found out she was having another book, I just HAD to get it!

I loved the first chapter of this; How they did their job, Gabe’s personality showing through- the love he had for Jack and how he believed in her. I absolutely shed a few tears in her first grieving part of the book; She wrote the first meeting of Gabe so strong that I also missed him, too.

Also a nice reminder, everything she do through the novel whisk back to that first chapter- how things worked on jobs and what Gabe would be telling her on the bluetooth if he were there.

I kept wondering where the title came from, and especially having the writing set up as a countdown.. what happen on the day of? The novel starting at minus six days.. is it the time until the cops catch her? Until she effectively would get killed too, or find who was behind it?

Jeff being abusive and a cop was the obvious bet; especially as she recall he’d said that « If I can’t have you, nobody can! »… but it also feels a bit too flagrant. My bet rested on someone much closer to her, and actually ‘helping’ her throughout her chase.

I had a part of the clue, but I was missing a few things. Among all, I do love the research that was made for the novel, all the programming jargon & constant details of what being a pen tester consist of.

Despite being a thriller, the happy ending that leaves me sobbing at 3am is also wonderful 🥰 love me a good ending no matter the genre or, good for the circumstances anyway
