Good morning!
I’m a native french speaker, and as I prefer to read in French aswell as having found some french bloggers to follow, it happens that I see books translated that i’m used to see in their english counterpart.. and every. time. it just feels wierd to me 😅
Some are only a change in wording to be translated in French while the cover remains unchanged.. while some do get a revamp of the cover entirely. In the first installment, we’ve seen books that I had read/wanted to read, without a particular theme.. today, we’re going with the Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage month!
* Sadly, I only found a few with both english & french translation.. lots of them had only one and not the other; so I settled for 4 instead of our 5 of last time.
♢ Before the coffee gets cold [GR]
This is the kind of comparaison that I need to take a double take ahah, they are quite the same but for the background color & cat. I find wierd however that they went in the opposite way, saying “As long as it’s still warm” and not “Before it gets cold”.
♢ The travelling cat chronicles [GR]
I actually do really like the art design of the english cover; Though the french one is more detailed, but the way the cat head’s poking out, I find it looks quite wierd 🤣
♢ Secrets from my Vietnamese kitchen [GR]
One of the few times where I actually prefer the french version.. The way the parsley & leaves are in the air, aswell as the smile on her face looks better to me.
♢ The cabinet [GR]
Both are really odd- at first, I didn’t understood what in hell was going on with the english one.. and then I read the synopsis and it makes sense ahah; the french one, however.. 🤔
Do you find some french covers prettier than others?
Which books by other Asian American or Pacific Islander authors would you recommend us?
