A second chance at love? \\ Book Recs

Something that I hadn’t quite thought about as a “theme” before now are the second chance romance – which, as you’d guess, are books with two characters (or more..) that choose to get back together as a couple after they had broken up once (or a couple of times).

After adding a couple of “newer” hyped or recommended YA contemporary/romance with that theme lately, I kinda realized that it does have an instant need to read feeling with that kind of books for me.

I’d say that many of my surrounding, such as my mother, are more the type of person to say that « if the couple didn’t worked out once, it’s basically pointless to go back to them », as it won’t work down the line either.

I’d like to disagree; the part of me that is an hopeless romantic wanna believe that it’s plenty possible to have a try-again with someone, and have it work. I wanna say that it all depend on how much each person want it to work (needing both’s will, of course), and put the effort needed always and everyday for the relation to work.

Compromisses don’t only go in one-way, and sometimes that means sacrifying some things for your couple to work; most definately if you are a person with a busy schedule.

There’s also the thing where you might have met your right person at the wrong time- it’s possible they needed to work on themselves/have some experiences or realizations first before you can be together for real.

* But yes, there is some exceptions though! I don’t think that all and every relationship should have a rematch. It all depends on the why and how it happened, aswell as if there was some unforgettable things done, etc. *

  1. These are my favorite kind of romances Kristina! One of the bests that I have read is Written in the Scars by Adriana Locke

    1. Ohhh it sounds good indeed!! Throwing it onto my Virtual wanna read aswell, Thank you! xx

  2. I don’t read a lot of romance but I definitely don’t think I hear enough about romance books where the characters decide to get back together. It’s something I would definitely be interested in reading more of so I’ll have to check out your recs!

    1. So far i’ve seen lot of « failed mariage » where both parties wanna work for it to be resolved, without the prior breaking up.
Although it makes me hopeful! It’s definately nice to see that even if your marriage seems over, you can get it back on track if that’s what you really want!

But I’d wanna see more of say, teenage love story being revisited as adults; which was the case in this one book made in movie that i’ve read, Nicholas Sparks’ the best of me. A different one that sits on my shelf is all the little lights, from Jamie McGuire.
