Are you scared of running out of books to read?

Hello everyone!

In the grand scheme of things, I know there’s so many books that comes out everyday- more than we’ll ever get to accomplish reading, unfortunately.. but! What about your pile of unread on your personal shelf?

This year and the last i’ve been very good for reading books I had already owned, aswell as a few unhauls here and there when books that had been standing unread for so long had stopped interresting me. I’m now only down to 9 books! Only physical, as I don’t tend to buy any kindle books unless i’m ready to read them right away.

As I go down my books on my shelf.. I’m starting to feel a bit anxious, not gonna lie.. Except for my christmas & birthday haul, where I get alot of giftcards, I don’t buy books that often. And when I do it’s usually only around 3 to 5. If I see books in a random store, like the pharmacy, and there’s some that interrests me- i’ll buy one. Nothing too extravagant.

Though I might have over 900 books on my wanna read shelf.. sometimes I just don’t feel like buying anything 🙈 It’s always a great ordeal into picking which one(s) I feel like buying currently, or just going rogue and picking something absolutely at random that wasn’t even on the list! Same as for my reading mood the past years, sometimes there’s just nothing that clicks- and i’m not sure what i’m in the mood of reading either!

There’s always libby, where i go browse and borrow some books- but again, we fall on my lack of knowing what I feel like reading, plus the fact that the books I want might be taken already by someone else so I gotta settle and find something else.

What do you think, is that making you anxious too?

I think if I had less access to books than I currently do, I’d be more anxious about running out – or if I don’t have as easy access to multiple libraries and Libby. But since I work in one and can pretty much get one within 24 hours, it’s less of a concern! I’ve also been more conscious/picky about the books I’m buying now so that probably helps in a way since most of my collection is starting to be more about the books that I’ve read rather than the ones that seemed interesting and buying it only to never read it again

      That’s fair!
