[Book recs] The power of strong friendships

Good morning, friends!

It’s quite a mistake to only celebrate romantic love for Valentine’s Day.. Self-love, love shared within a family (related or choosen) aswell as platonic love is all still a very important form of Love! I’d honestly tell you that my soulmate lie within my bestfriend, whom stayed with me through moving town, my mental health declining AND has been going for over 20years now. She’s definately one of the most important persons in my life that I couldn’t live without.. So here I am today, with a rec of 4 books with amazing friendships. ✨

All books have been read within the last year, so it’s fair to say that I remember them quite clearly.. Ofcourse i’ll try my best to describe why I found it a great friendship without spoiling too much of the storyline.

One last stop, Casey McQuiston [X]
We’re following August, who decides to start over and move to New York, with barely anything material with her. Her roomates aswell as the guy next door from their appartments ended up adopting her; everyone within their family being so different from each other, but sticking together.

The Cockleberry Bay serie, Nicola May [X]
Much like August, Rosa & her decovoted dachshund Hot arrived in Cockleberry Bay on the premise of someone having gifted her a cornershop. She knew nobody in town, not even who the giver might’ve been, and got a few bad events happening in her new town – However, she found amazing friends & family along the way; beautifully portrayed in “Christmas in Cockleberry Bay” when all of them, along with the dogs, are reunited around Rosa’s table for a big Christmas Feast.

A season for second chances, Jenny Bayliss [X]
Deciding to finally walk away from her cheating husband, aswell as her successful restaurant, Annie gets hired to homesit a seaside home for the Winter- leaving everything behind her. She quickly befriended an hotel manager from oversharing what she just went through, aswell as two Willow Bay resident ladies; all four of them forming their very own Book Club for female-written classics. All three of them will help Annie to the very end of the book, always being there whenever she needed them, taking turns or sometimes showing up all together.

The lying game, Ruth Ware [X]
Clashing with the others, here we have a thriller.. but hear me out; the four girls had created a pact (or “game”) in boarding school to lie as much as possible to the others, but NEVER to each other. All four of them remained together when shit hit the fan, years later, and even after knowing the truth they decided to protect one of theirs. Such strong bonds between all-women groups are so hard to find.. and especially at such a young age when girls usually keep fighting with eachother.

If you’ve read any of thoses, Do you agree with my choices?
Do you have more books to add to my list? xx

  1. It would be nice if we started seeing Valentine’s Day as something not just for romantic love, but for all kinds of love. The love between friends is often the love that stays with you the longest and sees you through the worst life has to offer.

How weird to be gifted a shop by a stranger in a palace you don’t live. I wonder if that’s ever happened in real life

    1. Definately! In the past years i’ve seen something as « galantines day » taking place, but it doesn’t seem to be as wildspread, ofcourse. And we do need to add self-love in the mix too!! Though iguess it’s not as « marketable » for the industry so.. 🙃

Iknow! We’d need to do some research, but ithink that’s only a thing in games & books, unfortunately 😅

  2. Ah this is such a lovely post to share, it’s so important to talk about the friendships love, as well as the romantic love. Friendships are SO important in anyone’s lives and they should be celebrated! I just finished One Last Stop yesterday and the group of friends in this story was definitely one of the highlights of this book! 🙂

    1. Right? And often times friendship does last longer 😅.. though people go for the most passionate ones..
      happy you thought so too!
