Books, Holder of memories..

Books, Holder of memories..

Hellooo !

Unlike my previous posts, « Books always on my mind » and « Growing up in books », this one is more on how books can make us think about certain memories in particular. No matter if you like thoses or not, there’s just something about them that you cannot let go ..

Frankly, my brain do that alot 😂 I get flunged into a specific time and space upon listening to a song in particular, or a point in a videogame (I have 2 like thoses..), a TV show, anything goes !

Maybe i’ll get to share somes of them with you in the future, but let’s concentrate on the books, shall we ?

« Les plumes du dinosaure », or « The dinosaur feather » by Sissel-Jo Gazan wasn’t a book I quite liked, if i’m being honest … however, I just cannot get myself to get rid of it 😳

Not much as of now, but it used to be a heartfelt reminder to me about when I was with my ex ; I was in my senior year of high school, he was a year behind me .. and I was reading that book (which took me AGES to finish) when one day I went directly to his house after school. His young cousins were there and we left to get some mcdonald, I had left my things (along with this particular book.. as at the time I was always carrying one) on a step of the staircase; his room was in the basement so .. And when we came back, I found my things falled off the stairs and my book has a little damage on the spine and cover a bit 😝

I’m not one to like my belonging to have that kind of wear & tear .. but when the relationship was over (can you tell im not the one who did ? ..eh) thoses little damage meant SO much as it linked to that day and therefore to him. Welp, as I wrote it now … it does sound kinda idiotic and petty.. oops. don’t judge me! I was 17..

So this book is kind of a .. I don’t really know how to call it, but it has pictures and facts about the shipwreck of the Titanic. Now.. It has (or had) a huge emotionnal value to my eyes as my uncle is a HUGE fan of the titanic, he had lot of collection stuff, made a “Model” (mock up ??) of the boat – back in the day, there was a weekly magazine with pieces included with it and you would buy them and assemble them yourself.

He was my favorite uncle and long story short, he left to move with a woman in another province .. little me was devastated, and we didn’t got news from him much since that point, and it took 5years until I got to see him again; and everything was changed and now how we “left off”, if it makes sense ?

My grandmother was doing a clean up of her house and wanted to sell the book, HIS book, so heh I just had to save it x) I will admit I only opened it & read it once, but it stays on my shelf regardless.

Do you have some books that travel you to a distinct memory aswell ?

Is it a book you liked, or one you keep only for the memory it holds?
