Can reading give you a “Runner’s High”?

Good morning!

This was something quite interresting that was said in my current read, Talk bookish to me: where Kara defended herself from her mother saying she should get to exercicing with « Every time I read a new book while wearing pajamas, I physically get a runner’s high »

..Ofcourse her mother absolutely did not believed her, as she claimed it was physically impossible- but what if it did happened?

I’m not personally a runner, so I haven’t experienced a Runner’s high before; however, google will tell us that it is a “short-lasting, deeply euphoric state”. Books are absolutely able to make us feel things through thoses words printed on pieces of paper somehow..

Here’s a few of thoses that i’ve experienced so far:

Romance RushThat sort of dreamy “head’s in the clouds” feeling after reading a particular loving, sensual scene.. might or might not include some erotic activities. This greatly strong feeling makes me wanna experience or even just talk about relationships afterward. I just wanna LIVE thoses glorious dreamy love moments.

Adrenaline jump ⇒ As I usually read before sleep, this one is kinda ironic as it does the complete opposite of what i’m trying to do.. leaving me to sleep WAY past my time 😅 Occuring with fantasies, whenever I can actually read them, where the action actually pulls you in so much that you read faster and faster, NEEDING to know what it hell is gonna happen.

My eyes jumps lines too fast as it gets excited.. as of which my brain is like «nono- gotta reread AGAIN. properly.»

Did you ever experienced a Runner’s High?
Has reading made you feel thoses kinds of strong feelings too?
