Long or short posts ?
Heey yall !!
Yet another converse post ?! why, yes.. you see, upon writing my last post, a question occured to me. so I thought “hey ! why not ask them !” ; you know how much I like babbling and having your returns, so here we go.
As a blogger, I’m struggling to have short posts written (~200 words).. I don’t know, I feel as if I need to have HUGE chunks of texts at all time or else.. I don’t know, I may not be doing my blogging properly ?
I then decided to ask some of my friends if they thought it was an okay post – and sure enough, it was for them !
So it kept me thinking … :
° What do my readers prefer ??
° Do you wanna read something long, or something short ?
° Are you even caring at all ? 😂 and is it something you just think I shall not even be bothered with?
Sure, I know my blog is mine and I shall not care too much of what I post on here and all .. but eerhhh .. it’s just SO hard !
yees, yes. I know, Im making my own life harder over nothing with silly details like this xD but hopefully, with pooling what y’all prefer, it may release my doubts over the “well, I need THIS amount of words or else people won’t like reading it as I have nothing to say…”
So tell me, what kind of posts do you prefer ? any reasons in particular? Please let me know xx
I don’t usually care about the length. Depends on the topic though. Long lists are cool for example 😀
It all depends what it’s about i think.
Just write what you feel like, I say! <3
Good point !
that’s my problem… xD If it’s not long enough I debate if I shall post it or not – as it don’t really feel like it’s worth clicking on it for just a few words..
I don’t really like short reviews unless it’s a mini reviews post. But if it’s too long I might lose interest. But most times it depends on the type of post and how interesting it is to read
yeah, I feel like too short aint good but so is too long .. atleast that latter one need deviding so you can “skip” what you don’t feel like reading. or “speed read” like I do somtimes
I really like long posts, truth to be told. I have seen many reviewers just finishing the reviews in 10-15 sentences and I really hate that. I long long elaborated reviews, like my own.
Same is with the other kind of posts. If a topic is being discussed, I want it to to be elaborate where the author should give all the opinions about the topic rather than just a few lines.
However, if the posts are like memes or tags or awards, I don’t mind them being short as basically they are just point-to-point 😊
yep, same ! I always feel … wierd posting something of only like 200words. I feel like it’s not too worth it to read, you know ?
If you come by a post having 1000words, you know you’re there for something.. and everything is properly addressed. I wouldn’t say my reviews are “long” .. but however I do devise them in a way that seems medium sized I guess ?
Yes Kristina, you are doing a fan job with your posts 😊
Thank you <3
For me it really depends on the content. An example is that I like reading shorter reviews, but longer discussion posts. Regardless, if I really like the content I will always want more. 🙂
Well Kristina …I don’t care LOL No really the content is what matter most to me. If everythign is interesting I can read long posts. And if nothing is interesting even a short post won’t hold my interest 😉
Welll… That’s true xD
no matter the lenght, if it’s not interresting ; you won’t keep going .. opposite is also true.
I just wrote a conversation post, so I’ve been wondering the same thing! I really don’t mind long posts, but I prefer when there are pictures/gifs/quotes to break up the big pieces of text. I find that it makes everything more digestible 🙂
Oh! How neat hahah
Mmmh yeah I see what you mean 🤔 sometime though, idk what pictures would I put ?? And gifs.. im already struggling with my r I need to copy paste and swear everytime I forget to have it again after having a link 😂😂 so for the time being …
i always love to space them though. A good chunk of space to devide everything 🙈
I’d rather read short posts, or lang posts with some bold words that I can just scan through. As a blogger I want to read a lot of blogposts from other bloggers every day. If they all write very longs posts, I won’t have the time to read everything I want to 🙂
Thats also a good point .. thank you?
Hit the wrong key.. was a !*
I think it really depends on the post! I have this very same problem when I’ve been doing my Bookworms Explained and Writers Den posts as well as all my discussion posts. I think if you have something to say then say it, don’t worry if it ends up being super long as you may find while editing you can cut out 200 or so words.
A lot of my Bookworms Explained posts are 1k words which is a lot, but it’s because of the nature they’re a discussion and also me trying to be informative. I have got some which are around 500 words and to me it worries me thinking, well is that too short? But it’s ok because sometimes there’s not a lot to actually discuss for certain quirks we have.
Within my other posts I make sure to break them into paragraphs and as long I’m around the 1.2k mark I know it’s not too long. Like you, I’m great at rambling and that’s not a bad thing. I enjoy reading long posts if the blogger has managed to write about the topic well, it can be enjoyable. Short posts make for a great change though 🙂
yes, good point !
Hopefully I can worry less, as from what I’ve read today, people don’t care as much ahah
Better a shorter post on point than a long and repetitive one, eh ?
Hopefully and yes definitely
I think it really depends on the post! Just use as many words as you need – if you worry it’s too long, you could use gifs, pictures and stuff to break up the text, that way readers won’t notice how long it is 😛
I’ve just .. I rolled with long posts xD it’s more the shorter ones I have a problem with ahah
Haha just do whatever you want! 🙂 I don’t think anyone minds short posts. If you don’t need that many words to say something, that’s okay! 🙂
I guess as everyone has said here, It really depends on the topic and also if you don’t write something super long but between those few lines you make a clear and good point theen it’s also okay haha. we love your posts no matter how long or short they are so don’t stress about it haha
aaww thank you xx
so mentioned, it depends. If it’s a review I find a medium sized post in other. But then again, one of the reviews I did for a book went a different way because it referenced another book I read and I tried to mention why I thought it was applicable. It was probably my longest post, I was nervous but felt good about the content. So again no clear answer, it depends 😀
I think it depends on the topic. Some posts I like when they are short like weekly memes. Other posts I like a bit long like lists or opinions.
I see .. again, I guess it depend if the lenght is worth something, or if it’s just there for being there 🙈 shorter is better rather than dragging something for like 3paragraphs – id agree with that.
Maybe a but of each keep a certain balance? Mmh..
A variety is always good! 😊
Indeed- I get way more feedback on what I thought was kinda eh or too short. So thats a good thing 🙈
I shall let the pressure go a bit.,
For me it always depends on the content, but my rule is the longer the post is the more I try to break up the style: photos, bullet points, quotes, shorter paragraphs. Anything that makes it easier/less effort to read and more engaging.
If it’s feeling too long I like to go back and pick out the key points and see if there’s anything I can cut back on as well.
That’s actually good tips!
Yeeah xD i like to paragraph and have probably too many spacing ahah
It totally depends on the material! If it’s a broad topic we would like to go on reading about it but some topics need to be short otherwise it seems you are just rambling on and on. Just go with what you feel like!
totally agree !
It is a hard balance and content matters. I can get carried away and try really hard to pay attention to word count. If I can find a picture or gif to express what I want and eliminate words, I do it. Also how the post is structured can make a difference. Great post!
