Cover Art ~ Vanessa Westermann ☆ Review Request

Good morning,

We are covering the last of my review requests today; funnily enough, I’ve received the two of them within short distance to each other. After having enjoyed her first novel, An excuse for murder, She reached out to me to read her newer mystery aswell 🥰

Publishing on May 16th, at Cormorant Books.

*While I did receive the book from the author, all thoughts are my own & genuine; it did not affect my review in any way*

Goodread page
4 / 5 stars

The intrigue is quite a genious one; murder by chocolates. Simple but effective, the murderer picked a allergen’s filled chocolate to kill it’s victim, being deadly allergic to nuts, creating a fatal anaphylaxtic shock. While the victim’s wife, aswell as the local chocolatier are prime suspects in this affair, Charley soon discover a few more people of interests that did had a bone to pick with the victim.. Can she discover the real culprit before it’s too late?

Turns out alot of people in town has secrets burried.. which ends up putting her into trouble with the ones hiding them. Throughout the novel, we get clues hinting in a few directions as who could be the real culprit; until it’s revealed to us in a grand show!

The theme behind Charley’s pop-up gallery, Cover Art, was really cool! I can say without a doubt that I would enjoy seeing something like that. I also must state how I enjoyed Cocoa’s character!! You know I absolutely love when dogs in story are used more than a prop.. her appereance was constant & she really had her part within the novel.

Ofcourse, I found a way to start crying in it 😅 (When Charley showed Matt the dedication at the end.. I lost it). I loved the romance between our two MCs, definately looking forward to read more of Charley’s investigations!
