Yes- I finally read it!!

After so many times of seeing it recommended mostly everywhere, and it sitting on my shelves since JANUARY 😅 This is my third book following my Summer tbr, we’re going strong with that one, folks!

First and foremost, I deeply LOVE the connexion between Sam & Penny. As i’ve been feeling quite lonely lately, desiring that someone to talk to (preferably a boy..), this is exactly what I would want. No one night stand, no talk of sex.. just, two people casually talking about everything and anything- even some things that don’t quite make any sense. No pressure, just (sometimes intimate) conversations. I related to quite a lot of things being said to each other.

Texting-based narrations has also been one of my MOST favorite thing in a book; so of course I was quite pleased by that.

Being a barista myself, I can’t help but screech everytime one of the character works in a café.. and There’s also a depressed & panic attack representation with Sam.

I can see why Penny could’ve been interpreted like a brat, and thus disliked by readers, with how she sometimes interact with her mother.. Celeste is trying her best with her daughter, having good intentions and all; but to me it’s clear that Penny has just reached “that state” of teenage years where you’re being a bit difficult — so that didn’t bothered me as much.

Until the moment she shared her story and part of why she ressentez her mother, feeling like this was her fault when it really wasn’t..
