Good morning!
Christmas is very near now, are y’all ready? Do you have all your gifts done? 😄 Unfortunately this first line Friday won’t be holiday themed- ahah! But here we goes anyway!
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by @Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines? If you want to make your own post, feel free to use or edit the banner above, and follow the rules below:
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book
« Vera Wong Zhuzhu, aged sixty, is a pig, but she really should have been a rooster. We are, of course, referring to chinese horoscope. Vera Wong is a human woman, thank you very much, but roosters have nothing on her. »

– One of those books where the MC just slide themselves in a crime scene and go full on trying to discover the suspect!

It was Vera Wongs unsolicited advice for murderers! My current read 😄
Have you read it yet?
What a fun idea. The first few sentences definitely need to hook the reader. Thank you for sharing.

Ooh I like looking at first lines! And this is fun, showing the lines before revealing. I feel like this one really sets a sort of feisty and quirky tone!
Oh yes! That old lady sure has character 😅
