Heey,

Look who finished yet another book ! This time, it is the first book in a serie which is classified as “YA fantasy” that was published in february 2018; currently available on amazon.

When I first saw it, the promise of a strong young female main character and the plot in general attracted me ; while I was not so sure about it being fantasy. As you may know by now, I usually avoid that genre in general in fear of DNFing due to a lack of concentration on my part.. As I wanna do my best to accept most books and review them to help authors, and loving the premise too much, I decided to take a chance and try.

My review;

5 / 5 stars = I demand more !! Although I usually prefer standalones, I would gladly read the next tome(s) in this serie.

Trigger warning; the backdrop of this story contain sexual and emotionnal abuse and contain graphic scenes that can be disturbing.

✘ I wasn’t too sure about reading fantasy, but that first chapter was promising ! I quite like Ariel already, she looks just like how I was back then in high school !!

✘ Sadly in some moments I need to double read sentences to make sure I follow properly – as my mind dont give me much imagination (and im easy to get lost in descriptions).. however i’m determined to get through ! I wanna know what happens!!

✘ The logic between the how and why’s of the story is making perfect. sens. Even for me who don’t even read fantasy usually. Brilliant, I could even snap and imagine it works like that in real life aswell, heheh

✘ I just was completely swallowed by the story, like I was in front of a movie inside my brain.

✘ Book – 1, Kristina – 0. Tears rolled down my face just as our Ariel felt upset. I was SO sure of everything being something when suddently it all went NOPE And everything switched, leaving me emotionnal and not knowing what will happen next (which I needed to delete stuff off my review as I was now off-track. Oops.)

I’m not usually a fan of fantasy nor series, and yeah it does demand me more effort as my imagination is lacking and it’s written in my second language to top it off, but I just loved this !!

As it’s obviously more of a dificult read for me, I’ve been reading strictly at night. That way, I can concentrate to the best of my ability and not be distracted; Which led me to a “problem” where it would be 3am and I would had read two chapters that night already, but NEEDED to go further … when alas it wasn’t a good idea – as we probably all know where it was gonna lead 🙈 Once im started, I just can’t stop myself from reading it and almost constantly think about it while awake, torturing me. Stranger to this genre, I wasn’t aware this book would make my heart race so much and that my little imagination weels in my brain would be on fire!

One of thoses books you deeply wanna finish.. but not at the same time as you dont wanna see the end !! (And you’re kinda scared of what will happen next… and of course you dont own the second tome 🙊)
