How did you start annoting your books?

Heey !

So usually i’m not one to annotate or write in my books.. except in those in college and even then- I felt like i was doing something wrong 🫣 So tell me everything, how do you personally do it?

I’ve been getting the hunch lately- simple enough as highlighting my favorite quotes in the book i’m reading.. which would help me immensely when coming back with my review and take the quote out- as i’m reading before bed that’s always hard for me to wiggle my phone out and try to type it or photograph the page so I can copy/paste.. just the effort, I dont feel like doing it sometimes.

I feel like carrying a highlighter is the easiest option currently without the fact my cat will try to steal it, as I find a reading notebook or postits would cause me about the same amount of trouble.. while just pulling the highlighter and go over the sentence wanted seems easy and effortless. The next day, or even whenever I finish the book, I can go back and look for the highlights to transcribe them.

But then my next worry is this: I don’t keep all of my books, donating them to my favorite dachshund rescue for them to sell so they can get more money. How do you feel about gently used books with highlights? I feel like they can also take my favorite quotes as theirs and it should be fine, but what do you think?
