How do you pick what you wanna play?

Heey!
We’re back in the gaming world with a conversation post: how do you choose what to play?
I’ve got maybe a good hundread of games.. between my Gamecube, Gameboy SP, 3ds, wii u, switch & Steamdeck; plus a few on my mac like sims 3 & 4.
I’ve always prefered handlehand to console (I like to play everywhere- not always access to the tv as im living with my dad who uses it); my current favorite is between my switch & Steamdeck that I constantly uses back and forth.
As with everything with me, i’m a mood reader but im also a mood gamer ππ My obsession circles around, I don’t finish games most of the time but I come back to them another time.. maybe even years later!
Sometimes I stumble onto something, or wake up feeling particularly nostalgic and bring back a very old game– like my last obsession, Pokemon Alpha Sapphire on my 3ds.
I’ve feared not having anything to play once i’m done with current obsession/not having bought something in a while… but nope! I can always go back to Zelda Tears of the kingdom, Sims 4 or even coral island- recently i’ve been thinking of even replaying my dear zelda breath of the wild!
Which consoles are your favorites at the moment?
Are you more handlehand or console?
What’s your current gaming obsession!
I adore my SteamDeck, since I’m often on the go myself and it’s just amazing to have and play the smaller titles, as it has so much potential <3
Secondly, or even shared place with my SteamDeck, is my gaming PC. It's perfect for the bigger ones I'd go with whenever I got a few days off.
My PS consoles are on second/ third place here. Ever since I got my hands on my PS3, I've loved gaming on a controller the most, more than playing with mouse and keyboard.
Maybe shared place with my 3DS, as I grew up with PokΓ©mon. However, I'd go with handhelds but the Nintendo Switch isn't mine, as I don't enjoy family oriented games too much, or Idk. Since I got my SteamDeck, I doubt I could get myself to something else, anyway. I rather play most other genres. π
Aw i get you π zelda tears of the kingdom & breath of the wild is my comfort games so couldnt do it without my switch lite!
I’m a solid Switch girl. I’ve toyed ith getting a SteamDeck but I’m saving up to get the Switch 2 and I also didn’t want to tempt myself with even *more* games when I already go through obsession phases with my Switch, haha. I just finished playing two games that I loved: Dave the Diver and Death’s Door! The former is much longer game play to complete the full game, but Death’s Door is a more fast-paced action dungeon that I kind of want to replay already cos it was so fun (and not easy, lol)! I’ve been toying with finishing my third ToK game or replaying BoTW cos it’s been so long… But I also just traded laptops with my sister so I got her gaming PC and… I’m tempted to dive into more Steam games that I’ve been wanting to check out for ages, like Coral Island! π€
I highly recommend coral is’and, so fun and different!
I’m a PC girlie but I also don’t have any consoles at the moment (they’re pretty expensive, though I’ve been thinking about possibly getting a Switch especially since I have readily access to borrowing games at work or Steamdeck since I already have like 100-200 games down the line!). I’m always up for an idle game since they’re pretty mindless, but sometimes I’m up for a puzzle game or hidden cat games (there’s so many) that are free. Like you, I’m a mood gamer, so anything else beyond idle it’ll have to depend on stress levels and time and all.
Mmmh ithink you’d be better with a steamdeck then- especially as you have so many games already. Switch games can be quite expensive! Especially main stream ones
