The unexpected inlander ~ Kellyn Thompson ☆ Review Request
** Disclaimer: I have received a copy of this book from the author for review purpose. This has in no way, shape or form affected my opinion on it **
This book is my first Sci-fi read, though said to not be too hardcore sci-fi; so in other words perfect for me. This novel is more suited for adults as the characters are in their mid-twenties, but there’s no erotica or graphic sex scene ; Though some slight descriptions of murder as our main character is an assasin. However, the author said it’s nothing more heavy then Call of Duty games like would be. Includes a unconventional love story where one go onto a journey of discovering and overcoming internal Bias.

My review;
4 / 5 = loved it! Not sure if id reread, however.
✘ aww the romance is just so sweet. Found without looking for it, and yet he’s totally ready to leave almost everything behind!
✘ Now that we know who Chris is, I am eager to see what Jenna has to hide, and supposedly cannot say..
✘ I appreciate how this scifi is not needing any complicated world developpement. Just our world fast forwarded to where humans would have developped modified DNA, leaving them in two groups: the purebred and the modified. So much more easier for me to read!
✘ I really love this romance, the way he behave at some point just totally made me think of my own boyfriend 🙈 making sure she was okay and all.. but of course it had a twist at some point, eh ?
✘ ohh hell no !! Of anything that couldve happen, I did NOT thought of that.
For some reason the reading took a long time for me, probably as the chapters was longer and I grew tired before finishing them as I do read before bed.
I did loved both of our main characters and how “in dept” they were. The scifi elements didn’t bothered me at all and made all so interresting and different than my usual reads! I of course loved the romance of “two person from different worlds” type, and oh boy I didn’t saw that twist coming – true to the title ahah! Broking my heart in the process and lead a few tears, but happily ending ❤️
« (..) But he also saw that we can create a smaller world with the people we choose to surround us, And that smaller world can be one that is safe and free, one that does make sense. Chris could not change the world, not completely, not the way he wanted to, but he could change himself and thus the smaller world that existed in his relationship to others (…) and by changing all the smaller worlds, the entire world would be transformed »
I love science fiction and it’s great to see you experimenting and trying the genre out for yourself. Soft sci-fi is the perfect place to start and it sounds like this one was good for you 🙂
yes indeed! better go slowly than all at once and unable to keep up, ahah
