July ‘26 Wrap up ☀️

Good morning!

Buckle up guys, this month had things going all over the place, we didn’t rest much. Good things; new job, vacation, but also bad things with Sheik’s health problems that piled up on top of each other.. Let’s take a look!

July’s feels;

Starting on the right foot, we went on Vacation with my mother the second week of July (Reading slump & Vacation) where we had fun and I got to do a little shopping for my new work wardrobe as I was scheduled to start my new job the next week (Let’s chat; mercury retrograde). As i’m writing this, I just finished my second week and everything’s going so well! I’m starting to fully get comfortable and really starting to know that i’m doing. The shift from evening to day shift isn’t so bad than I originally thought, some days I need to nap while other I don’t; I get so much more time to myself and with my pets.

Now onto the Sheik’s adventures.. as I spoke a bit with my new job in my “Mercury retrograde”, We had first brought her to the vet on June 13th where she got 2 antibiotics, 1 anti-inflammatory for a pneumonia as we spoke in Last month’s Wrap up. She went back for a check up the friday before we left on vacation July 3rd; Different vet, she told us how she’ll give her one more antibiotic orally for another week as she feared she would be worst if we stopped. Left my dad to take care of them and we went on vacation. While we were away she didn’t seem too good and stopped eating, at first thinking she was missing us or not liking her food we let it go. on July 13th, the next monday, I got cancelled to work as there was no space in the office for me, so we got to the vet instead. They didn’t know what was wrong as she still wasn’t eating so thought maybe her stomach was upset with all the antibiotics. She got put on more anti-nauseous & took xrays to see her lungs progress. She also got a blood test, which came back all good.

The next week, we got the results of her xrays showing her pneumonia had gone aswell as the report of her November’s cardiologist appt that got lost somehow; her mitral valve disease had gone from a B2 to a B1- great improvement, however the Xray shown some of her spine started fusing together (Spondylosis; a normal sign of eldery). We went forward to have her vaccines done on July 22nd along with her cat brother who also had a blood test; thankfully Majora’s test came back fine, the only minor thing was his teeth having a bit of tartar build up. Later that night, she started having a fever, being warm to the touch and lethargic- I gave her a bit of Metacam to try and make her feel better but from 6-10pm she started having trouble breathing.. I thought she was choking on mucus so I tried to make her vomit to no avail, so we brought her to the ER vet that very same night.

As of July 25th, She had been hospitalised for a “Pneumonia Bronchitis per aspiration” and put on IV fluid and antibiotics aswell as on oxygen since that wednesday 22nd. She’s stable but unfortunately the mucus is quite heavy and won’t budge though she’s getting 3 different antibiotics on IV; her breathing rate is moving quite alot from 60-80 bpm (bad) to 37-40 bpm (good). As soon as the mucus ease up and her breath per minute is under 40 and oxygen level stable at 100% she’ll be moved out of the oxygen cage. She’ll need to be outside for atleast 6hrs before being good to come back home. We had went to visit her that morning with her brother and she’s looking so much better than when we left her! Her eyes are brighter, she was wagging her tail, but we could see after a few minutes that she was starting to struggle breathing more raggedy. She’s been hospitalised for 3 days now, we’re looking at possibly one or two more.

We finally got her back on July 27th! After 5 days on IV, she’s still a bit doozy but atleast she’s eating now (just couple bites in the ER; she lost so much weight 😭). We’re to give her 3 antibiotics a day, and twice a day in a nasal steam machine with saline solution. Scheduled Xrays after 1week & 2weeks.
