Last gaming obsession 🎮 Oregon Trail

It’s been a while since I last obsessed over a game; truthfully I had thought that was gonna be something else, and then I lost my island so I went back to Animal Crossing new horizons, and then back on Sims 4.. 😅
However! As I upgraded my phone from the Iphone 11 to Iphone 14, they gave me a 3months free from apple arcade – and I saw they had Oregon Trail (also redone on switch too) so I decided to try it out.
That will probably be a surprise for most of you that are late-twenties in the US.. but I actually never played it before 😅 Not sure if it’s because i’m Canadian OR because I’ve grew up in french who know?
But I saw the hype and people talking about it so I wanted to see for myself. I ended up playing it 2days straight, not wanting to pick up my island or even my book ahah..
I even found a dachshund in-game!!
It makes me think alot of death road to Canada, where even though it’s technically the same “path” as a base, the game is randomized or customized in a way that no two travels are the same. And plus there’s little achievements things that I like 👀 and different sidequests that have different endings based on what do you choose.
That helps alot personally, because i’m more attracted to longer game- so in this way i’m more tempted to replay it. With visual novels for exemple, like Best Friend Forever, the different ending with the different bachelor isn’t enough for me to keep replaying it.. although I have phases, I might pick it back again but so far only played that one twice.

Oh, never heard of this game, but it certainly looks interesting + I love achievements and that no two journeys are the same. Will have to check it out!
Ah, happy to know I wasnt alone! Ahah yes do check it out 🙂 i really love the concepts like that, not being a « long » game, but with high replayability that makes you just addicted to keep playing because so many details can change!

Somehow it didn’t reach the french part of us ahah- one of my english friend did confirm one of his friend did have a OT phase so.. 😅
