Let’s talk bookish ➙ Book stopping places
Good morning, Everyone!
Let’s Talk Bookish is a bookish meme that was created by Rukky @ Eternity books where each Friday, bloggers write posts discussing the topic of the week! Since the beginning of April, the meme has been taken over by Aria @ Book Nook Bits; She also created the pretty new graphics!
This time, it’s the prompt of March 3rd, where we’re talking about book stopping places: Are you the type of reader able to stop reading just anywhere? In the middle of a sentence? Paragraph? Or do you need to reach the end of a chapter before stopping? What do you do if you can’t stop at a good point – do you have to go back right away to stop at a better place? Do you use bookmarks in a special way to remember where exactly you are? How uncomfortable does it make you to stop in the middle of an exciting part of the book, and how do you deal with that?
I absoluely DESPISE stopping anywhere else than at a chapter point, or at the very least the end of a paragraph – Which means I prefer books with shorter chapters than longoing ones.. as it gives me more places to stop. I would tend not to bring those of the latter with me anywhere to read on the go, as I know I probably won’t have enough time; especially on break times at work, as i’m a slower reader and we only have 30mins. it did happened where I would push my break a few minutes to be able to reach the end of the chapter
After my reading spree is done, I’ll lose the “in the moment” rush of adrenaline of that specific part of the book – and that’s especially true if it’s an exciting moment. Coming back to it without said rush leaves me a bit lost onto what was going on again, so I do need to backtrack a few pages/paragraphs to go back at the start of the event.
Shorter chapters are just so much more conveniant for me, not only because I take more time reading, but also because my concentration span can be shorter – in daytime because of all the possible distractions, but also at nighttime where I might be more tired.
What about you? Are you specific about book stopping places?
Do you prefer longoing chapters or shorter ones?
