My pros and cons of listening and reading a book simultaneously

My pros and cons of listening and reading a book simultaneously

Good morning!

I learnt that some people listen to audiobooks while reading the paper/ebook version at the same time! Somehow I never thought about that one, and decided to try following a prompt in my Bookish Chaos server book challenge. I went with “Anxious people” from Fredrick Backman, as it’s a reread and I do have both copies on hand.

Let’s see my thoughts..

Pros

  • Break for your brain! which is kinda nice, the audiobook does all the work for you.
  • Ability to note quotes that you like, something I usually struggle with audio.

Cons

  • “I’ve been reading this word wrong?!”
  • Can’t multitask, which is something I enjoy out of audiobooks
  • Feels like alot to bring with you, earphones AND book while away from house

Overall I like the experience; it’s so nice to feel like your brain is at “off” for a while! Not a thought in sight. 😌 I might do it again, especially for rereads, but I don’t see myself doing it every time as I do enjoy branching out and game while listening to my books.

Have you ever tried?
What did you thought?

  1. I have never tried listening to an audiobook while reading the book at the same time, so it was interesting to read about your experience. The main reason why I like listening to audiobooks is that I can multitask and do chores or cook, but maybe one day I will try it out.
