Newer bookish habits

β€’

Helloo!

Through the yers of having the same hobbies, sometimes a part of how we do our hobby change. Let’s see few things that I have tried to incorpore within the last years.

➑︎ Starting multiple books

For the longest time, I had only sticked to reading only one book at the time. Mainly because I didn’t wanted to mix the books together in my head.. Within the past year however, it happened that I would start a book in the middle of another one when my mood would change and I didn’t felt like reading that one πŸ˜…

For exemple, I’m currently reading See you yesterday, but as the weather started being fresher- and honestly I didn’t feel like picking up a physical book, I decided to start an ebook of Tremblez! Crimes au japon instead. I’ll get back to SYY after i’m done.

➑︎ DNFing more freely

I always had trouble with DNFing books. So far this year i’ve stopped reading 4 books: Three out of them was simply because it wasn’t what I was expecting, and the last one being me hating the 3rd POV storytelling

➑︎ Reading more on my breaks

It depends on what i’m reading; as with paid breaks i’m needed to go back on the floor if needed, it fits better with something light with maybe shorter chapters or even non-fiction short stories, something like that.

What little habits have you taken recently?

I’ve been trying not to buy so many books recently. It’s so hard when they’re making all these pretty editions now. I do need to figure out a habit that will help with writing reviews. Maybe taking notes.

Taking notes can work! I usually start the review before im done the book- either in the notes app or straight in WP drafts.

I just haven’t figured out yet, where I’d write them down. As sometimes, it has to go quick to keep my thoughts. But maybe I found a way, since it’s not too bad to quickly draft something via Jetpack, ngl.

Yes I feel the same way too! Annoting sounds fine until you need to grab something and actually write in the margins πŸ˜… not for me

I loved reading about your new bookish habits! 😊 I really should DNF more freely, but something is always holding me bad. I had to many mediocre reads recently and I could often tell they wouldn’t be good from the beginning πŸ™ˆ

Oh yes I’m a big fan of reading multiple books at a time haha. Usually I try to keep it to 6 – 3 audiobooks, 3 ebooks/physical mix. But now and then I go for 4 audios aha. and yes! dnfing more is so so good, I wish more people would do it
