Nothing but Blackened Teeth ~ Cassandra Khaw ☆ Book Review

Good morning,

This book started being one that I had shoved away because I had been seeing so much of it everywhere.. and then I actually went to read the synopsis- and finally added it to my wanna read list, probably a few months ago now!

As we’re moving into spooks’ season, I started feeling to read some horror/thriller & etc – and it happened to be available to read on my libby app, so here we are! 🍂

Trigger Warning; Suicide, Depression

It’s definately atmospheric; it seeps of dark and eerie feeling. I was also struck by how quick we discover Cat’s suicide idealisation & stuggle with mental illnesses.. which starts of really great for an horror novel, I have to say. I found so many phrases worth highlighting!

The writing is so much more “creative” than what my mind is acquainted to: the english being so rich that I feared I couldn’t be able to get through it, when however being surprised that I get through it that quickly! The english being too hard for me definately removed some beauty off the ending, in the end.. I just- not sure I know what I just read 😅 it also kinda felt too short & rushed- everything happening so fast you don’t have time to register.

« A long year spent making acquintances with the demons inside you, each new day a fresh covenant. It does things to you. More specifically, it undoes things inside you. To have to barter for the bravery to go outside, pick up the pone, spend ten minutes assured in the upward trajectory of your recovery: that the appointments are enough, that one day, this will be enough to make things okay again. All those things change you. »

« However tedious the best wishes, I coudln’t fault his intent. More than anything else, I was tired. Tired of being unhappy, and even more tireed of feeling sorry for the fact that I was unhappy. It was easier to agree than it was to argue. »
