Good morning !
I am finally back from our week of vacation; in fact I just arrived yesterday 😅 That was many of “firsts” for me: First time taking the plane, First time meeting Alex’s parents.. and well, first time being together for that much time in a row.
The way there and the plane itself wasn’t as bad as I thought it’d be.. I only freaked out a bit before taking the 3-ish hour drive of bus to the plane, and then I was completely fine. The way back on the other hand.. was quite chaotic 😓
But first, There was really only three main things I wanted to do while there;
√ See an iceberg in the middle of July
Yes !!! That one got ticked right off the bat, haha even before we landed our pilot/flight attendant informed us of a teeny tiny iceberg in the middle of the sea. I did saw another one more “up-close” while we were driving around, but alas I couldn’t take a picture of it.
╳ Haven’t seen any moose
Given we have lots of that at home too but you know, I had been told there was mooses everywhere.. 😂
╳ Didn’t went swimming
While the town we had just left was in the middle of an heatwave around 33-38℃, this one was more around 18-24℃ …dropping as far as 8 degrees at night time!! so erm, yeaaah but no.
As the two we didn’t do can still be done at home AND I got to see the one thing we don’t have here, i’m pretty happy with that. I can now say that i’ve seen an iceberg in real life ahah!
Memorable events;
♥ Believe it or not, we visited a town called « Dildo » !! Probably one of the funniest town name i’ve ever heard 🤣 There was a restaurent with statues dressed as fishermans, as of which one was called “Cap’tain Dildo” – you bet I needed a picture of that, instead of the blend town sign! ahah
♥ We also went to the most eastern point in North-America! While the weather was lovely when we got there, by the time we reached the top of the hill it was drizzling and the thic fog made it so we couldn’t see a thing, not even the water down the cape xD Like his mother said, you could see the fence and it was like the world just ended there.
♥ We were lucky enough to have a clement weather to allow us to go sail-boating! While I didn’t saw any moose there, I got to see atleast three whales !! As of which, I could photograph a portion of it’s back there..
Being naturally tan, I thought my skin couldn’t burn … well I was wrong ! I didn’t put any sunscreen on, and I ended up absolutely taking a snooze on the boat – face up in the air 😂 Result; the top of both my shoulders, aswell as my face (nose & forehead, mainly) got burned.. I also have a wierd 3-color tan on my left thigh ahah as I was wearing capris and I didn’t wanted my tattoo to have a random line in it so I raised it. It just lined at two different places anyway – but no burns!
♥ After our boat trip, we went back to one of our previously visited area to see a major part of the town light up at night time. It was so pretty, but alas I don’t have mom’s big quality camera – so my phone’s clearly don’t do it justice.
♥ Because you can’t say vacation without a bit of lazy-ins, we took some time to snooze and wake up late.
We also finished watching season 2 of “One Punch Man”, and the season 3 of “My Hero Academia”… kinda sad now I don’t really have anything to watch – as we need to wait for more of Seven Deadly Sins aswell as My Hero. Though we did started a new one called “Dr. Stone”, it’s releasing one episode per week(s) so.. no binge-watching with that one.
Overall I had a really nice trip. Though I spent 8 days without my two dachshunds, I coped better than I imagined – it helped that I had a big Berneese Mountain Dog to keep me company instead of them! ahah. So wierd to sleep-in in the mornings without being woked up by Sheik at 6:30/7am to give her breakfast!
The plane and meeting his parents went so smooth too, of course anxiety made me panic over nothing.. 😅 For the plane trip “going” we were delayed by ~20mins, a plane before us had needed maintenance right in the way of our plane to go. but erh, whatever.
For the plane trip “coming back”, however .. we were supposed to leave the airport at 5:15am, we ended up getting delayed until 5:35am because of a safety check. Then we proceeded to get seated in the plane, when they noticed a tire was more flat that it should’ve been .. so we ended up waiting 2HOURS, sat in the plane, for the maintenance guys to come and fill said tire. (as other planes needed it before it was reported, we were shoved at the end of the list..) — We only had an hour in-between leaving the plane and taking our bus for the remaining 3.5hours-ish drive home… and welp, we totally missed it by a whole hour. Good thing my parents came to pick us up and driving all the way back home and we didn’t had to wait for the next bus, which that the next one was at almost one – so 4hours wait at the airport, but man it left me way more tired than needed🙃
Any trip planned for you this summer (or in the past months)?
Travelling can sometimes just be a pain in the backside, but I’m sorry, I cannot get over that Capt. Dildo picture, the fact that there’s a place named that has me cackling like no tomorrow though I’m sorry to hear you got a little too much sun!
Iknow right? 😂😂 must be the most pictured statue\town sign, hahah!
Ahh that’s okay! Thanksfully i’m alright now- it wasn’t burnt too too badly. In fact, my nose and forehead is peeling now!
Ooh, your post made me want to hop on the plane and go on a vacay. I just graduated and have been working my ass off for the last 3 months.
If you can, do it! It’s so important to take a break once in a while.. This was my first time taking a week off, after ~8months of working barista full time 😅 much needed!
The pictures are lovely! Looks like a beautiful place to visit. Glad you had fun!
It was! the fact it was a coastal area made me feel just like home, so I didn’t really got homesick at all. I just didn’t had my dogs nor my things 😅 so after a while… I was happy to come back ahah
I laughed really hard at that tiny iceberg.
Ahahah an iceberg is an iceberg 😂 when they announced that I honestly had trouble finding it at first- I was expecting something so much bigger… i just went « …is THAT an iceberg?! »
Wow, it looks like you had an awesome trip! I already had my vacation for the summer but it wasn’t as grand as yours was. Hope you catch up on your rest!
Thank you!
I’m definately more refreshed, today was back to work for me – it wasn’t so bad, I gotta say.
Where did you went on vacation? Or did you just stayed home ?
Sounds like you had a great holiday!
awww except for the delays it sounds like your trip was the best Kristina!! I can’t believe that town was called dildo hahaha. And iceberg sightings?! So neat ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for sharing. I felt like I got a mini vacation too.
yeah! good thing the delay was on going home and not going there because it wouldn’t had started on a right foot, ahah!
Iknow eh 😂
